Russia already is. It's a resource based economy with a non-democratic & kleptomaniacal government. Additionally, it's balls deep & geopolitically aligned in proxy wars in the region already.

Don't be stupid. Norway is a resource-based economy that has its special forces training US-backed terrorists in Syria. Is Norway a Middle-Eastern country? I cannot help, but see this as an elaborate attempt to insult and troll Russians.
