Macron's fundraising appeal to rebuild the Cathedral is an insult to people suffering from his austerity. But to see the French Union of Mosques, many of North African heritage, run after this appeal, in some strange bid to assimilate and justify their "Frenchness", is shameful.

As well as the world reaction to which was an accident vs the intentional Chinese levelling & tearing down Keriya Mosque in Xinjiang China dating 1237, almost as old as the Notre Dame church. Both are loss to *human* civilization

Raising 700 million dollars in only 24 hours for a burnt down church of archaeological & religious significance is honorable but it's also telling. Ridding world poverty & funding important things like education & social programs isnt about limitation of resources... but of will

“Be civil! When they go low, go high.” Is basically— “When they attack and incite until you are silenced or dead, we will celebrate what an honorable martyr you were while doing nothing to stop the violence that silenced you .” needs support and protection. NOW.

Jews need to understand that Muslims now play the role we have played throughout our history: they are blamed for the failures of the people in power. In this time of rising fascism, American Jews must defend - and our Muslim brothers and sisters - with all our might.
