    The Sidewalk Toronto project is setting a dangerous precedent for local government. What has happened over the last 15 months cannot be normalized. There is nothing ok about how we got to where we are. The responsible thing to do right now is stop the project.

    The NYC algorithm task force is a reminder of David Harvey's point that government power “will only have a positive impact if the state itself is brought back under democratic control.” Public does not automatically mean accountable and democratic.
