And transgender individuals who have received hormones or medical surgery related to their transition are now barred from joining the military, even if they can prove stability in their preferred gender.'

Yes. Expensive surgery - I have wondered at the number of surgeries performed on service members and postulated if they joined the military as an avenue to have the surgery paid by us.

Military service is hard enough without personnel who have mental or physical issues. The gender dysphoria issue combines physical and mental affliction into a "perfect storm". I was an Infantryman (MOS 11B40) but an RPG into our APC put an end to that after 3 years, 2 of which were in the area of CanTho, Vietnam. My squad had a Black guy from Detroit who was very effeminate. He was a burden to us as he was always shrieking and crying in a firefight. I was scared too, as would be any person be, but that didn't prevent me from killing as many Dinks as possible. Anyway, long story made longer, he was KIA by the same RPG that got us all in that M113 APC. When I say "burden" I mean that we all had to look out for him -- I saw guys like that when I was in the VA hospital and I wanted to say "suck it up and be an adult", but didn't. Mental cases are definitely what you do NOT want in a critical situation.

We ought to start a new, simplified "birther" movement.

"If at anytime a person chooses to identify with a gender they were not biologically born with, they are excluded and/or disqualified from serving in the U.S. government or military. The same applies for a service member or government employee who chooses to engage in immoral sexual conduct whether single or married. Gender confusion and immoral sexual behavior are incompatible with the good character and conduct desired and required from those who serve our country."

(The fruit of good character is far more simple than some make it out to be.)
