    Haftar always insisted, publicly & to Western diplomats, his forces would enter Tripoli without a fight. Now, it’s clear Haftar was and is willing to destroy Tripoli - destroy it, the way Benghazi and Darna look today - to rule Libya. For Haftar, there is no political solution.

    Diss below from also indicates is rather certain the will win in the end. A few months ago, was still expending efforts cajoling the & , a policy initiated in December 2016. No longer. is back to its 100% pro-LNA stance of 2015

    The cherry on top is Lavrov asking "certain armed actors", meaning Misrata, not to use its air force against the LNA and calling on its "backers", meaning in this case the US and hinting at its presence in the city, to prevent this escalation. Not the best way to approach Misrata
