I feel like the same people who complain that the fandom is toxic are the same people who dive head first into every petty drama they can sink their teeth into, then end up living with a moving target on their back because of it. To me, furry is what *you* make of it, not others.
Like, no wonder you're not having fun. You're spending your hobby time obsessing over things that just piss off everyone involved. This is an artistic fandom, not a fluffy war room. This isn't about anyone in particular, just some trends I notice from time to time.
Hobbies should be enjoyable for you. If you spend your time stressing out over toxic subject matter, you'll turn your entire experience into a toxic one. I don't know about y'all, but furry is my escape, not my poison.
I think the fandom is toxic but no more or less than any other fandom out there so I dunno.
Every fandom has it's issues, but as a whole I think that it's not toxic
Maybe I should have said that fandoms are kinda toxic in general.
non-furry here. just came to say i sometimes find furies a bit odd and I'm like god why are they doing this but then i slap myself and realize, not everyone has the same interests as mine and its dumb to judge ppl for something they find entertaining even if its weird to you
i know i pretty much repeated yer words but what I'm saying is I'm not a furry but i don't have a problem with anybody else being a furry, be what you want and if someone tries to stop you - karate chop them in the butt, because that's okay.

I come here to meet sweethearts and someone I can mean something to even if it isn't much. Positivity breeds with itself until it's offspring does the same. I'm OK with negative aspects but it's as you say, they shouldn't be our focus, rather our warning to stop and think.
You can do better for yourself and others by being a good influence. Build something. It's more rewarding than operating a verbal sledgehammer all day. You need to rest sometimes and put it down...
in my mind, being a furry has always been using animals to take the best parts of your personality, and amplify them! To be the person you cant be in real life, and become who you always wanted to be with no limitations through a community with so many amazing artists and people
IKR! Some people like call out every tiny thing regardless of the circumstances and then wonder why people treat them differently

There are tens of thousands of great cartoon animal folk out there. Some furs need to stop hanging around with and supporting the shitty ones.

I like Furries, I've met a lot of really cool Furries. Then I see the SJW/Commie/Nazi Furries then back to the normies who only see the 3 i previously listed screaming like maniacs and the entirety of Furries is put into one group. Bad enough normies already find Furries off.
