The AKP use to be *the* party in Turkish politics who knew how to PR effectively.

I am in awe. Seeing a CHP-led PR machine actually work, and work well.

After Ümit Özdağ's resignation, now deputy chair Koray Aydın has resigned from İyi Party. Özdağ had partly attributed blame of İyi Party's electoral performance on Aydın.

I admit the contrast never occurred to me during the election campaign: while Erdoğan was showing footage of the Christchurch shooting, İmamoğlu led prayers to commemorate the Christchurch victims.

İmamoğlu is being accompanied by quite a crowd, occasionally chanting slogans like "Turkey is proud of you". Him and his wife, holding their daughter's hands, are offering their respects to the founder of the Republic.

This data would be interesting to compare with the district-level election results. Yusufeli in Artvin is a case in point; traditionally right-wing it seems the HES & dam project in Yusufeli had an impact and pushed residents to vote for CHP.

In Yusufeli, Artvin, 60 years later CHP takes over only by 3 votes! AKP is trying to take it back on the table! It is reported that AKP brought in 4 more votes claiming it was forgotten in the ballot box (or as absurd lie) - recount started again!

I keep getting the question: why still refraining from commenting on Turkey’s local elections? Well, if you are paying attention, even Turkey’s ruler-supreme Erdogan, known for his energy to pull off 8 rallies & a midnight TV appearance in 1 day, has been silent so far.

A subtle detail but may be significant: AK Party says they've won 15 metropolitan municipalities which wouldn't include Istanbul as things stand. They may be winding down towards conceding as the deadline for appeals has just passed as well.
