The problem is for Erdogan i think, is that the US tried to twist his arm too many times, mostly on Syria and the PYD. The US admins under Obama and Trump proved themselves to be unreliable. I'm not particularly a fan of Erdogan, but the US mishandled Syria completely.

More than that, the US forced turkey into the Russia hands. Suitation in Syria made turkey the biggest looser among all other parties. It is a mystery to me why the US and NATO did that to turkey
