    The Turkish govt has replaced numerous mayors in Kurdish-majority areas with trustees since 2016. In one district, the new mayors elected yesterday discovered that the trustees had donated the municipality building to local police.

    Those who expect a softening on the part of Erdogan are in for a disappointment. He poured his all into these elections and he is bound to seek retribution, against the municipalities he lost and especially HDP that outmaneuvered him. Expect hardening in foreign policy as well.
