In any case, what's done is done Now, we pull out and leave the YPG ministate to crumble
-
I honestly doubt that turkey and fsa will even try to attack sdf now. Moreover, where it could happen? Even Russia, which is the biggest Turkish "partner" in Syria, reached a deal with ypg in manbij.
-
If the US pulls out, the YPG may just collapse on its own without Turkey even leading some kind of military operation If the US doesn't pull out, then Turkey can't do anything obviously So it really comes down to the US policy
-
Well, I continue to think that turkey should pay a lot of attention to who are its real enemies. Till now the cooperation with russia and iran what has brought? Meanwhile, pkk continues to attack turkish positions

The USAF did a lot serious heavy lifting. But the YPG/SDF fought as a coherent force with minimal infighting. That couldn't be said for the FSA. And cohesion and unified purpose goes a long fucking way. The USAF could only do so much. The ground work happened because of the SDF.
-
I completely get the anger and the dislike of the SDF. That's fine. But I'm telling you as someone who studies tactical movements of non-state actors, the YPG was pound for pound better than the FSA at clearing ISIS. Air support counts for a lot. But it is not everything. And
-
having a competent ground force that can doing the clearing, holding, and building is something the SDF did well. And the FSA did not. The ability to conduct complex ground operations across multiple fronts, all the while coordinating, or aiding coordination for air is not some
-
minor thing to be brushed off. It was a very impressive feat, done better than the SAA with the Russians at their backing and almost no ROE, and far better than the FSA.
-
The FSA was fighting a war against Iran, Russia (and its support), the regime, and at times even the SDF all at various times. SDF/YPG was nearly wiped out by IS and survived because of coalition air support and assistance.
-
If the FSA was able to hold on for as long as they did without air support, it's not outrageous to think that they would have been able to unify and establish themselves better like the SDF with tens of thousands of airstrikes, advisors, weapons, money, and armor pouring in.
-
Simply look at the siege of Kobani, where the YPG/SDF would have been wiped out. They're not that different than FSA. They couldn't even hold anything in the Afrin op by FSA groups and Turkey and rebel groups have held on for far longer against the SAA and Russian air.pic.twitter.com/lDL9EFZMQE

The thing is not everyone can fight and risk his life. Fsa are fighting for women and money, fleeing dangerous battle..in the opposite Kurds are fighting for freedom. Don't compare what is not comparable, fsa is considerably weaker than sdf.

As per all FSA sources USA demanded they stop fighting regime which FSA would never approve. To be fair FSA fought both regime and ISIS and still didn't collapse like YPG did. They were nearing extinction before Americans came to help with there air force
