Turkish Airlines has this campaign that gives you a 10% discount if you check a box saying that you want to help Turkey fight inflation. I'm no economist but I'm not sure that's how it works

It's a classic 10% discount code but instead of making people happy, they're informing everyone (whether they know about it or not) that Turkey has an inflation problem. I would sack their PR agency because they're making Turkish Airlines (and Turkey) look a bit bonkers...

From the outside it night look bonkers. From Turkey it looks mighty normal (this is not the first time I've seen a similar deal).

Nothing is EVER Turkey's fault, so declaring yourself opposed to inflation is like saying you are anti west/CIA/Zionists/parallel state/Soros/PKK/Gülen/NATA...(delete as nec). An entirely rational declaration of patriotism through the prism of the contemporary Turkish mindset.
