I wrote this paper last year and it remains the only document to my knowledge which examines the modern histories of the Churches associated with the Assyrian people alongside the experiences of Greeks and Armenians and their Churches.

The funny thing is you're on par with the most rabid Ba'athist in terms of disseminating bullshit propaganda. Stop speaking on Assyrians please - you know literally zero about us.

A wonderful photograph illustrating how the U.S. fully endorses the imposition of a sectarian, 19th C style Ottoman millet system by one of its clients onto indigenous minority populations.

The only thing keeping these mini-Saddams and their mafias in check in the rotten, kleptocracy of Iraq is precisely the existence of rival mini-Saddams and their own mafias. That's the tragic game. That's the situation minorities are in *because* of the invasion.

The power and influence is expanded through a delimiting of territorial and political authority which removes out-group bargaining and negotiation. These mini-Saddams would be able to do whatever they wanted in these new statelets because they would no longer even have rivals.

The argument outlined in the article - far from strengthening the position of vulnerable minorities in Iraq - actually ensures their destruction in favour of expanding the power and influence of the numerous Arab and Kurdish mini-Saddams thriving in Iraq right now.

Imagine the hubris of lamenting Saddam's treatment of minorities and using it as a reason to support the invasion of Iraq, then saying it all went wrong when Iraq wasn't divided into Kurdistan, Shiastan and Sunnistan - splitting the same minorities across ethno-sectarian states.
