I have made mistakes in the past that currently forbid me handling things in an appropriate manner.
YCHs are pretty much the only thing I can handle with how my stress works and even then I will take them very sparingly until the last of what I owe is completed.
I have to eliminate the things that are causing me anxiety first and when that's done I'm going to take it very slow.
My nerves are frayed and have been for years.
I apologize. I'm confident I won't be so wound up once I right the remaining wrongs~
If past customers still waiting is the concern - I may not be one of them, but I can say that I'd be pleased to see that I was being respected in the form of you abstaining from new unnecessary business.
Always nice to see your works around here. Keep knocking out those wrongs, whatever they may be. Hope it goes smoothly.
Yeah, the worst is when people take on tons of them to pay for shit, then obviously they can't possibly work enough to actually do them before more bills arrive. Then they add more to the list. Then come the "commissions to make money to refund older commissions" journals. I think chevi/shizuworks had a backlog of like 300 commissions when she vanished.
To Tsam if you see this - the fact that you're stressing out about how people perceive you and how much work you take on already makes you better than most. The ones that don't give a shit end up in the worst situations, because they just flat-out don't care if they run their business into the ground.
I hope that people get that message, even if you need to plaster it over the top of your Profile in big letters: COMMISSIONS: NEVER
Unfortunately, in the age of entitlement, some will still keep pushing, but I hope that you're able to keep saying No and work towards getting your mental health in the right place.
I had a client that would hound me for more work, and though I appreciate that they liked my artwork so much it was really getting stressful. I have issues I'm dealing with (health-wise) right now that are stressful enough without any extra work added onto them. I tried explaining that, but the questions never stopped. Eventually I blocked him. I just couldn't handle it anymore. I needed to be less stressed out to properly deal with my physical issues.
Just know I can sympathize, and really wish you the best. Take it easy: you got this.
Not taking on commissions is a good thing at times, especialy if it lets you do the art you want and not feel pressure from it ^^ And in the end we all love your art, we did not follow you because you did a ton of art of our characters after all.
Thats a great idea. I wouldn't have thought of a better idea. nothing beats taking a break of everything that is stressful and doing whatever will make you feel better.
