I v much respect your opinion, but I feel like our conversations over the IHRA definition did end with ‘agree to disagree’ right? I thought that particular clause was a major issue, you saw it as a net positive despite understanding why others might disagree

Afaik the specific issue hasn’t been tested in a Labour disciplinary case so hard to judge who was right, my concerns were based on how it’s been applied in other contexts, though. I guess also the possibility of a chilling effect

Shouldn’t that be all the more reason for redoubling our efforts to get rid of or neuter it? Corbyn’s proposed amendment in full (apparently “deferred” indefinitely since September) would be one way of doing that.

Of course, because they obviously mean Jews. They can only mean Jews. Not a single one of them believes in a powerful Israel lobby blatantly plotting to take down our politicians, as exposed by Al Jazeera, and akin to its counterpart in the US. Not one of them, Marlon.

Not necessarily, although you do lend your voice to sundry smears and libels against the Labour Party. But thanks for proving my point. The protest wasn’t a “Jewish” event but a protest against anti-Semitism. I believe most of the people there weren’t even Jewish.

It seems obviously true that Israel would quite like to be rid of Corbyn as Labour leader, because of his political stances, but I think that protest was attended by many people who’re concerned about antisemitism and suggesting they all had a nefarious agenda is quite fucked up

Idk, my experience of protests is that some dickheads will show up and it’s pretty out of your control (not that I’m sure I agree with your assessment of every person you list). When on left issues it’s a nightmare trying to stop people taking SWP placards

Jonathan Sacks has also praised Douglas Murray’s virulently Islamophobic writings, and defended far-right marches in Jerusalem. These loudmouth hoodlums are moral pygmies compared to Jeremy Corbyn. If only he would summon the courage to tell them so.

😲. A honest and critical discussion on the IHRA is always welcome and it's potential misuse. But it's not something to be discussed if one has deep rooted biases. I have concerns for the Palestinian plight and never once broke any examples of the IHRA.

Corbyn must be the only person on earth who can’t even beat Theresa May. Don’t think that Israel would be exactly quaking in their boots. In the terribly unlikely event that he ever sneaked into power, he’d be a nuisance at best but would likely implode after a few months.
