I v much respect your opinion, but I feel like our conversations over the IHRA definition did end with ‘agree to disagree’ right? I thought that particular clause was a major issue, you saw it as a net positive despite understanding why others might disagree

I didn’t say all of them. But that there were plenty of non-Jewish bigots & nasties there such as Norman Tebbit, Sajid Javid, John Mann & Ian Paisley, + at least one confirmed Jewish bigot (Jonathan Arkush — a high-profile Tory who has praised Donald Trump), raises some questions
-
Idk, my experience of protests is that some dickheads will show up and it’s pretty out of your control (not that I’m sure I agree with your assessment of every person you list). When on left issues it’s a nightmare trying to stop people taking SWP placards
-
Sure, but Mann and Arkush for example were speakers! Mann is a well-known rightwinger and immigrant baiter who was previously reprimanded by a judge for making unfounded allegations of anti-Semitism, way beyond the mark of actual AS.
-
Mann is a Labour MP. When was he reprimanded by a judge out of interest? Also where did any of these people ‘praise’ Donald Trump?
-
On Mann (who the judge confirmed as a windbag in love with the sound of his own voice): http://www.bricup.org.uk/FraservUCU.pdf

Jonathan Sacks has also praised Douglas Murray’s virulently Islamophobic writings, and defended far-right marches in Jerusalem. These loudmouth hoodlums are moral pygmies compared to Jeremy Corbyn. If only he would summon the courage to tell them so.
-
Jonathan Sacks has never defended far-right marches in Jerusalem. That is a lie, but one that was deliberately spread.

(Think the other important thing to note in these convos, which seems like it should be obvious but apparently isn’t, is that attempting to influence politics in other countries via lobbying is something most countries do to some extent, not just Israel)
-
Yes but you’ve singled out Israel of course

In this case I am calling: Thick Disingenuous

Really Abi, Corbyn can't even be a threat for the most ridiculous government we have had. Corbyn is an antisemite with or without him Israel will continue to exist and Bibi being the tragic fascist that he is. Plus ça change.

. A honest and critical discussion on the IHRA is always welcome and it's potential misuse. But it's not something to be discussed if one has deep rooted biases. I have concerns for the Palestinian plight and never once broke any examples of the IHRA.
-
Yes with people of good faith. But Palestinian obsessives who tweet furiously about Gaza and never the Yazidi, Myanmar, Uighurs.. make one highly suspicious

Conspiracy theories? FFS... it’s all an Israeli plot against Corbyn?

Corbyn must be the only person on earth who can’t even beat Theresa May. Don’t think that Israel would be exactly quaking in their boots. In the terribly unlikely event that he ever sneaked into power, he’d be a nuisance at best but would likely implode after a few months.
-
That’ll be why the government is so enthusiastic about calling a snap general election right? While Labour keep asking the government not to do so?
-
They’ve said no because a) we pretty much just had one and Corbyn lost to the worst Prime Minister in living history and b) apart from Corbynite morons, the last thing most sane people want is another bloody election.
-
Strange still that we want one, while people like you will move heaven and earth to prevent one. Just for the record, the last election resulted in a hung parliament (not a victory either way). Corbyn destroyed Cameron’s majority, and got more Labour votes than anyone in 20 years
-
Also the biggest increase in the Labour vote in 72 years. That’s from a standing start of being 25 points behind in the opinion polls six weeks before, thanks to the sabotage of the fucking PLP (confidence vote, walkout, leadership challenge, constant rebellions, etc.)
-
Fuck everyone who deliberately sabotaged the party from within. Next time they won’t be so lucky.
