I read it more as seeing the rose in the way that some Americans see their flag. It’s not valuable per se, it’s just a rose/flag, but if it represents values & ideas it becomes valuable. She’s saying it’s nothing to her if it is ‘saluted’ by people who don’t uphold those values.
A nuanced, good faith and well considered view on politics. It'll never catch on.
