It's like leaving the keys in the lock of the front door of your house so that anyone can come in. To become a domain admin in a Windows network means that you will have full access and full controll everything.

Yes that is plausible. But it’s more likely someone did something stupid which is becoming a returning theme with some organizations. :-)

I never heard of "Shotgiant" before. Thank you for the link. Judging based on the current state of security that must have been a walk in the park for anyone. This makes attribution even harder I think?
