I'm going to be seeing my girlfriend and her family through March and April and was interested in purchasing a cologne that would be appropriate for the setting but still maintain a level of elegance.
Thanks in advanced!

Green Irish Tweed without a doubt. You can grab a 50ml bottle for little over a 100 bucks on fragrancenet.com. It's an absolute gem, classy and seemingly perfect for your trip.
I've seen reviews for L'aventure knight saying it's an almost identical clone, so that's a cheaper option if you want to go for it.
I was just looking at this and it seems to be the most promising so far!
I think it's a good fit for what you need. It appeals to many different tastes in my experience the last year.
Check out u/vectorix108 he’s got tons of decants of almost all the ones mentioned here. I bought reflection man and l’homme ideal cologne (citrusy and fresher) they would both do a good job of what you’re looking for.
shop around mate .where u based?am irish and picked up 75mls of aqua di parma fico di malfi recently for 55 euro.great price for a niche house.
ok cool lmate..have u tryed chanel allure homme sport extreme?
YSL L’Homme, Prada L’Homme, or Reflection Man, from cheapest to most expensive.
Chanel Allure Homme Sport Extrême, Creed GIT, CdG Floriental, Aventus, Tom Ford Ombré Leather.
Ombré Leather seems a little heavy for the warmer weather, don’t you think?
Yes it is but in Spring you will get some cool and chill nights from time to time.
As a girl I 100% second Chanel allure home sport, maybe not extreme though lol. I bought that cologne for my boyfriend and boy is it good and it's generally just a great everyday fragrance for men. It honestly drives me crazy when he wears it.
Just wondering what you like more about sport vs sport eau extreme?
YSL l’Homme is pretty popular and it’s light. A bit sweet though. It’s pleasant.
Les Infusions de Prada: Iris. It smells amazing. Soapy, clean, powdery. It’s marketed towards women, but who cares!
I've been wondering about this one! Just a few questions, if possible. Do you have it? Are you male/female/other? Have you compared it to its cousins, Infusion d'Iris Cèdre and Infusion d'Homme? I figure, if I like Amber which is amber, and I love L'Homme which is amber + iris, then I must also like the iris on its own. Does that work like that? Haha.
Thanks!
I love these types of questions! To my nose, L’Homme and Iris smell very similar in regards to that fresh powdery (my brother said baby powder) and clean sheets-type of smell. Both L’Homme and Iris have the freshness of the neroli. Although they are technically the same flower, neroli is orange blossom but with the stem and leaves added giving it a green, almost earthy facet. So imagine Iris smelling similar-ish, but a bit greener and powdery. Infusion d’Homme practically smells the same to me, but with Iris being a bit sweeter and fresher. Thankfully, given the notes, neither of them smell like fabric softener
Amber is so rich and “toasty.” The amber in the other fragrances gives it a light sweetness, while still retaining its airiness. Amber, on the other hand, is straight up warm. If you like Amber, may I suggest Twilight by SJP. It’s amber and incense, but the amber there is sweet. To me, it smelled sweet, fresh, and milky. Compared to Amber, this could be its EDT counterpart. It’s fairly cheap on eBay. It’s also marketed towards women, but it’s totally unisex.
I’m 24 and a guy, lol. I have a carded sample of Iris if you’d want it? It’s only been sprayed once or twice.
Thanks for your detailed answers! I'm always a bit afraid of celebrity scents because so many cheaper fragrances give me raging headaches on the dry down, and it seems like most celebrity scents are priced at that range where they might smell good but then put me in headache city. I'm sure there must be a few out there that wouldn't, but I just have too many ruined days from trying cheaper stuff out. Versace might be the worst in that regard for me, and Versace's inexpensive, but not particularly cheap.
It definitely seems like I want to try the Iris! Thanks for your offer, but I know it's against this forum's rules to say this, but I don't actually think I need to try it right now because I sold off a few things to get my already small collection down to only six fragrances I really like and I want to keep to my dialed back regimen before adding more things. A good friend has the Iris & Cedar, so I guess I can continue to sneak a few sprays of that here and there to kind of get the feel for the Infusion line. Another good friend has Amber for women (I have the male version, which I guess I wasn't clear about).
I currently have: Prada L'Homme, Prada Luna Rossa Black, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon, Prada Amber Pour Homme, Dior Homme, Valentino Uomo. Can you tell I have a favorite type of fragrance? Haha. So yeah, I don't have a signature scent (Amber sorta my default, but L'Homme & Black are my #1 and #2), but I consider myself to have a signature vibe of clean/mildly masculine but mostly unisex/fresh/unthreatening, as I feel like that also fits me as a person, and I generally feel like I'm not being particularly myself when I stray too far from my comfort zone, and that's ultimately why I like fragrances, they make me comfortable. It seems like Iris would actually fit in very nicely by your description, and I think it's convinced me that I'd rather add Iris than Iris & Cedar or D'Homme when the time comes to add to my rotation because honestly, green, powdery, sweet, fresh sounds just different enough from the rest of my collection but also fits in with my concept for what I should smell like on a daily basis. Thank you very much!
In you want a cheaper alternative: zara 8.0. Smells like melon & mint and is very clean :)
Would this be a safe bet for a sample?
Apologies, I'm new to this.
Not sure about the ebay decant, i’d check /r/fragdecants and /r/fragsplits, but reflection man would be an excellent choice for that sort of thing (just go easy on the trigger, it’s really strong)
Mmhmm. And in the winter you're probably indoors so it will work in that situation. It just works forever.
Yeah unfortunately. But maybe he won't need it all day. Otherwise there's PV Rush of Unicorns. Supposedly lasts a long time but I haven't smelled it.
I have a mental image of something a little more floral, possibly unisex. Does anyone know something along those lines?
You need to give Dior Homme a sniff. Definitely smells elegant and classy
Dior Homme is beautiful, and it only gets better throughout the day, but it is possible to over-spray it. Prada L'Homme is good, too, as I think it has a more energetic opening and smells more natural, and I really think it's one of those fragrances that can't be over-sprayed. Both are just the right mix of floral and unisex, but Dior is the better value at current street prices. And if we're gonna talk about those two, Valentino Uomo has to be mentioned as a similar contender, and considerably cheaper for some reason, even though it's every bit as good.
Prada L‘Homme is really soft and clean. If you want something a bit more affordable, I’d suggest the white Eau de Lacoste or John Varvatos Artisan Pure for a more floral scent. All three are quite inoffensive and would fit your needs imo.
Reflection Man would probably best fit your description although it’s expensive.
I am going to start sounding like a broken record, but Layton Exclusif.
Dia Man
Caron Pour Un Homme (after initial opening)
Dior Homme Eau
CH Men
Spicebomb
Eau d'Hermes
Big fan of Moonlight in Heaven by Kilian. Fresh but not exactly citrus.
Cartier Declaration D’un Soir is nice if you’re looking for a men’s floral fragrance. Light and green :)
If you like lavender, try a sample of Bogue MEM. If you like a jammy golden kind of thing, January Scent Project - Selperniku
Geoffrey Beene's Bowling Green is a great often overlooked one for spring. Super affordable as well.
Try Unforgivable by Sean John extremely cheap option for Milesime Imperial by Creed. Thanks me later
Prada Luna Rossa Eau Sport is such a nice bright soft fresh fragrance. Longevity is actually quite nice too.
One of my favorite springs scents is Guerlain’s Vetiver. It’s so nice. I cannot wait to wear it!
