“British special forces have taken part in the war against Isis, despite a parliamentary vote in December 2015 that only approved airstrikes”. What do you think of British democracy? I think it's a good idea.

Likely to see more of this. “These children, born under terror, should not undergo further suffering," said the lawyer. "France has a duty to protect them.”

A stunning story that is absolutely crucial to UK also. Because you know what else Murdoch wants? Brexit. Or as he put it: "When I go into Downing Street they do what I say. When I go to Brussels they take no notice." in his pocket. now on the pay roll

Judging from recent FOI request to FCO it's bcse 'public opinion & press coverage not sympathetic' to those in Syria. No matter who or what they are. Gov can't have aid workers upsetting fear narrative. They'd have to apply due process to all their citizens - last thing they want

If you have a few minutes, Tauquir's story is a dreadful must-read. W/ Arendt's book my side, I despair at the ordinariness of citizenship deprivation and the terrible message this sends to all Muslim youth who care about those lives "over there"

Funny thing about secret intelligence is that it can't be challenged. It could be that your Twitter account has been mixed up w. someone else's, or your neighbour thinks u are a funny tinge. You'll never know.

"I saw a child, they raped him in front of his father. These interrogators by the contractors, they committed horrible crimes. Really terrible. And I can never forget the electrocution too. It almost felt as though fire would come out of my eyes"

Agree. It's v convenient for gov to take simplistic view & shoehorn 1000s people into one narrative. They are individuals w. individual stories, but gov can call ambulance driver a terrorist & no-one asks why. Individual justice is sacrificed while gov maintains one truth for all

She has more guts, initiative, & human sensibility than the entire FCO, which pretends it is 'too dangerous' & 'too difficult' to go to Syria to carry out what is essentially their day job. Kudos to her.

Theresa May said IS suspects should be tried in region, where crimes were committed. SDF are carrying out local justice, as per her recommendation. No doubt she was expecting sentence would be death by hanging, incl. for British citizens for whom she has denied any responsibility
