#ChurchoftheEast (#Nestorian). The#Assyrian population, although facing massacre in 1840, was not ethnically cleansed until#Seyfo (#AssyrianGenocide) in 1915-1918 -
Thanks for that information! To be honest, I knew almost nothing about the church when I visited it in 2008 - and there was no-one around to fill me in. So do I understand correctly that the church was still in operation in the 2nd half of the 19th C and beginning of the 20th C?

That's sad that it's in that state currently. I would love to have the property handed back to the
#ChurchoftheEast to maintain. Yes, that's correct, it was not until July 1915 by order of Patriarch Mar Benyamin Shimun (assassinated during the genocide) that that church was used. End of conversation
