『ミッション：インポッシブル／フォールアウト』監督＆キャスト記者会見

Tom Cruise:

This is my 23rd visit to your country. And it's just amazing to me. I feel very at home here, and thank you so much for having me, and my friends are excited to bring you Mission Impossible.
So do you want to hear about my broken ankle? Is that what you want to hear about?

これが23回目の来日です。信じられない感じで、とても心地が良いです。招待してくれて感謝しています。仲間も『ミッション：インポッシブル』と共に来日できて興奮していますよ。
で、足首の骨折について聞きたいの？それが聞きたいんでしょ？

Tom Cruise:

I knew it was broken, the moment I hit the wall. And I knew that's why I had to get past camera. I said, "McQ, I need to talk to you." I said, "I am sorry, but my ankle is broken."

骨折したと分かった、壁にぶつかった瞬間にね。だから、映らないところまで行こうと思ったんだ。「マキュー（監督の愛称）、話がある。ごめん、足首折れた」と言ったよ。

Christopher McQuarrie:

I said to you, "There is a silver lining to this. We just don't know what it is yet."

私は君に言ったよね。「プラスな面があるはずだ。それが何かは分らないけど」と。

Tom Cruise:

So I went to the hospital, and luckily the silver lining was we had time.

それで、病院に行きました。「プラスな面」とは時間ができたことでした。

Christopher McQuarrie:

Because even though we were at more than halfway through the movie, we still had not finished the screenplay.

なぜなら、撮影の後半にもかかわらず脚本が完成していなかったから。

Simon Pegg:

Tom's injury obviously got a lot of attention, but it wasn't the only injury on the set. I, myself, on day 28, got a very nasty paper cut.

トムのけがが注目されているけど、現場では、彼のけがだけではなかったんですよ。２８日目だったかな？僕が紙で指を切ったのは。

Tom Cruise:

He's recovered.

彼は完治したよ。

Simon Pegg:

I am better now.

今は良くなった。

Henry Cavill:

Thankfully Tom took all the hard injuries for the movie, so thank you, Tom.

ありがたいことにトムが、映画の大けがは引き受けてくれた。ありがとう、トム。

Tom Cruise:

My pleasure, Henry.

どういたしまして、ヘンリー。

Henry Cavill:

I will break my ankle in the next one.

Don't! Please!

Tom Cruise:

I've always challenged myself for my whole career. Mission Impossible is no different than that. I'm always thinking how can I push it further? McQ and I ... What interests us is story, it's character, it's people. It's not just the action, it's the character. How do I get the audience involved in the story? We don't want you to just watch the movie. We want you to experience the movie.

仕事では常に自分の限界に挑戦してきました。『ミッション：インポッシブル』でも変わりません。常にどこまでやれるかを考えています。監督と僕が興味を持つのは、ストーリーであり、キャラクターであり、人なんです。アクションだけではなく、キャラクターが大事なんです。どうやって観客をストーリーに巻き込んでいくかです。皆さんには「映画を見る」ではなく、「映画を体感」して欲しいのです。
