    Saudi & Pakistan have a long term relationship from when they were backing Islamists against Soviets. During the 90s Pakistan would use Saudi to fight off pressure from Iran & Russia about supporting Taliban. Their closeness ebbs and flows depending on who the PM in Pakistan.

    Iran is accusing US & Saudi of supporting terrorists. Pakistan is being accused of not being able to control the threat immenating from inside its borders, not willfully participating. This article conflates the two.

    Alas, a normalization of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia seems to me to be science fiction.

    I have NO doubt one day in the not-too-distant future - relations will be normalized- not super friendly but manageable/workable. When that time happens, we will all look back at these times & wonder what was all this about.
