yes, al-aqidi did in 2013. we rebuked him for that. you forgot to mention that al-aqidi pledged to fight ISIS in Sept 2014 - you keep forgetting that. https://www.cnn.com/2014/09/25/world/meast/us-syria-rebel-agreement/index.html … al-aqidi was a political operator. less blood on his hands than Assad govt - by far. do you even care?https://twitter.com/BBassem7/status/1095565023055773696 …

It's a little bit disingenuous to lump all of the rebels/opposition into a camp of blanket support for Daesh, though. Both Nusra and the wider FSA have actively fought against Daesh, sometimes with great effect.https://www.reuters.com/article/us-syria-crisis-rebels/hundreds-killed-as-isil-insurgents-gain-ground-in-east-syria-idUSKBN0EL10R20140610?irpc=932 …
-
I'd say it's more disingenuous to pretend the rebels were interested in eradicating Nusra and Isis.
-
Nusra? No, most FSA groups probably weren't interested in eradicating them, maybe still aren't (those that exist). Daesh? Most of them were pretty anti-Daesh after like 2015. There were some (jund al-aqsa) that were exceptions but the FSA as a monolith was never really true.
-
The FSA as monolith was never real, there we agree. And even after 2015, you had various groups that didn't like isis but didn't want to fight them.
-
I'm trying to be.

Wrong, Nabih. From day one, al-Qaeda & ISIS sought to destroy the FSA & force some factions to join. The US let moderate rebels down. Rebels kicked ISIS from Eastern Aleppo in 2013 without US help. In northern Aleppo, RuAF gave air cover to ISIS & PKK to attack rebels.
-
Man, I had FSA rebels in 2017 telling me the supported Nusra's presence and wanted to work with it. It is simply wrong to pretend otherwise. Also, moderate rebels? That canard again?
-
Are you claiming all rebels told you so? With the US abandoning rebels, some naively fell for Nusra, who are Assad's terrorist proxies. Are you also claiming all rebels are terrorists? Are you simply adopting Assad's, Iran's & Putin's narrative?
-
All rebels are terrorists? Huh? Where did that come from? I'm adopting no one's narrative. I'm saying that rebels weren't interested in fighting Nusra and ISIS and often helped them. Simple as that. You're adding all this other stuff on your own.
-
From 2012 onwards, rebels fought ISIS relentlessly. Some of the FSA heaviest loses were at the hands of ISIS terrorists (eg Shuaytat rebels in Deir Azzour). Some factions, abandoned by the US, foolishly worked with Nusra. Others, eg Division 13, fought Nusra & paid a heavy price.
-
Yeah, the year long non offensive against Jaish Shuhadaa' al Yarmouk was pretty relentless. And it wasn't just some factions that worked with Nusra. Literally all of them did as part of various ops rooms and by virtue of being in the same area.
-
All of them? Including Hazim Movement, Division 13, etc?
