  14. One can see this in reverse: when Obama tried to get the Israel lobby to rally support for strikes against Asad in 2013, in that brief window when he was considering it, it went nowhere because public opinion was overwhelmingly against.

  15. Seems very relevant right now: a paper by (2011) on the reason(s) pro-Israel sentiment is so dominant in Congress. In short, it's because the American public is (alas for the hard-Left) overwhelmingly favourably disposed towards Israel.
