    Most of the 40,000 displaced people staying at are women & children. Conditions at the remote desert site are incredibly harsh. While is proving assistance, people here need much more support & to be able return to normal life in a place of their choosing

    2. ... the hardliners it sloughed off. HTS is building something more sophisticated and complex; Hurras is still functioning like a more rudimentary tanzim (organization). Of course, which of those models is the strategically appropriate choice right now is a different question.

    This (originally released on a closed Telegram channel) puts into relief what HTS’s leadership is and isn’t prepared to justify to a militant audience. “Democracy” remains a red line, even as they’re prepared to excuse the ignorance of al-‘awam (the general public).
