I have now taken down my tweet concerning @francesweetman. As I'm not an encyclopaedia, I had no idea about her serious illness, and certainly don't wish to add to her suffering in any way. I wish her a full and speedy recovery.

You just couldn’t let it lie, could you? An apology followed up with many “although”s is no apology.
-
You're right. An apology that goes "I'm sorry, but you..." is never an apology. And for reference, all politicians and commentators, neither is "I'm sorry you feel that way"
-
Given the circumstances, it was rather a handsome apology.
-
I certainly can't imagine many other people whose Holocaust-surviving gran's memory had been besmirched by someone she agreed with who'd have apologised to her. I realise the correspondents above, Alan hopefully excepted, couldn't care less about that though.
-
Ah, just adding to the apology now, I see!

You are still giving out mixed messages here
-
There are no mixed messages. 1) Please lay off Frances; she has a serious illness. 2) This doesn't mean she has carte blance to smear all sorts on here everyday. It's about us all behaving fairly and respectfully towards each other.

I hadn't heard her say that about Sanders. Was it on the internet?
