I was completely frozen by the level of obvious ignorance about the topic, connected with even more obvious undermining the danger that Islamic State poses to the Philippines. Enough said, that this report was heavily tested at the end of January.

This month Philippines experienced one of the bloodiest terrorist attacks in years, conducted by Indonesian suicide bombers. AFP clashed with multiple Islamic State-affiliated groups of Abu Dar and Turayfie in Lanao Del Sur and Cotabato.

The month ended with the biggest battle of these two years, located in Patikul Mountains, where Philippines fought 150-strong Islamic State East Asia team. Any undermining of the threat is irresponsible and damaging for security of the islands and region.

1. "Frayed relationship" is something i would never expect from actual US DoD, given their experience with IS. 2. While no leader "was recognised" to be an amir, there is a greater problem - last year, the region was expanded into Wilayat, upgrading "emir" into "wali".pic.twitter.com/hCQlB3l1Ah
