It's not Marie Kondo v. clutter. Watch the Netflix show before you hate. She reintroduces people to their stuff and helps them identify what brings them joy. Hating her makes you look so bad! And that makes me sad.

I do watch her show!

The capacity to welcome and learn from people who come different cultural backgrounds, and speak a different first language, is actually a sign of a strong and healthy society, not a sign of “decline.”
-
It can be very emotional for people who have learned hoarding behaviors to confront their consumerism. It can bring up really ugly feelings, and people lash out. Or people are just awful, and every hero eventually turns out to be a milkshake duck in the end.

Americans enthusiastically learning from a kind Asian woman whose first language isn’t English is one of the things that gives me hope in this time of rising xenophobia tbh. Let’s by all means decline if it means learning from others for a change. Can we also not have wars?
-
I mean, what next? USians learning foreign languages? USians reading more books in translation and watching more foreign films? USians realizing we aren’t the only fucking people on the planet? If Marie Kondo is the vanguard, where do I fling open the gates?
-
I mean, I think we need to ask if the gates bring us joy, and if not, maybe we tear them down entirely, right?
-
Prisons, borders, ICE, persecution of BIPOC, queer, and transgender people, walls, billionaires, drone strikes, nuclear arms races do NOT spark joy now that you mention it. Kondonistas arise.
-
OMG. CAN I BE A KONDONISTA?? I wanna be part of The Decline of the US Superpower club! Are there dues? Do we get badges??
-
We get badges but we only get to keep them if they spark joy

I like how you deleted the first racist tweet and followed up with another racist tweet but this time with imperialism.
-
Oof, what was the gist of the deleted tweet?

She's not actually America's decluttering guru. Her book was FOR Japan. It got translated. I wonder when people will realize this????

I think her speaking Japanese adds to her fairy-like delicacy and charm. It exaggerates the diff between herself and her lumpish, clueless American clients. She's the decluttering equivalent of Queer Eye. Outsider helps insider who's doing it all wrong.

white women are awful lol
-
some white people are ok. not going to say which ones really. but if you had any you knew that were good, couldnt hurt to say who they are. (holding hands in my lap patiently) up to you though.
-
well I said women. white men are pretty okay across the board
-
