Herm is fine, a lot of people still use it as a self identifier.

Says who? Intersex people? Who are those "a lot of people"? Your bio doesn't exactly make you sound like an expert on the subject, "please no politics, it just makes everyone angry"
-
I wouldn’t argue with this guy, he’s not worth your time. He tried to argue at me about how safe reheated beef is when I was poking at it being not high quality
-
Oh yeah I blocked him right after replying lol
-
yeah that guy kinda threw up a ton of red flags

The thing is, people do use "herm" for characters who truly are hermaphroditic. I wasn't even aware until recently it was actually used as a slur by some assholes to denigrate/mock intersex people, since the two are completely different things.
-
"truly are hermaphroditic"... but you don't actually have to call it that. You can just use the term intersex, and you won't have to worry about denigrating or mocking them.
-
Actually, I do refer to characters who are hermaphroditic as herm (most of which are non-humans and a few are mutated humans). I would never use the term to designate intersex people, however. One, because it's offensive and 2, once again because the two mean different things.
-
i would ask you to explain how h*rm is different from intersex but... i already know it's not gonna make a difference in regards to the stigmatization of IRL intersex ppl. you can literally call them intersex and lose nothing. just be considerate and do that instead.
-
Not from the best source, but here's the Wikipedia part about that: "Currently, hermaphroditism is not to be confused with intersex, as the former refers only to a specific phenotypical presentation of sex organs and the latter to a more complex combination of phenotypical and>

genotypical presentation. Using hermaphrodite to refer to intersex individuals is considered to be stigmatizing and misleading.[98] Hermaphrodite is used for animal and vegetal species in which the possession of both ovaries and testes is either serial or concurrent, and>

for living organisms without such gonads but present binary form of reproduction, which is part of the typical life history of those species; intersex has come to be used when this is not the case."

Its fucked cuz, one, yes its a derogatory term. But on the othet hand its such a common phrase when it comes to nsfw furry art. So I'm sure people will bitch if/when it gets removed.
-
Yeah, def gonna shock some people who've never been forced to address how their terminology affects other people. I'm just disappointed FA backed down so fast, it hasn't stopped being offensive.

My takeaway is that furries need to stop learning about GENDER from porn and that this list is still goofy as shit I appreciates the attempt at listening to trans voices before but this is still biological essentialism considering what genitals your char has has anything to do
-
With the choices in here Even other trans people I've met have often had a long unlearning process of how to speak like a normal person because they learned all their terminology from mislead furry porn
-
It's like saying your sona is dickgender You realize how silly that sounds?
-
I just know I'm going to get all the arguments about "well my sona was born like this and grew up with their personality around their dick and..." if I ever speak up and it's just like it takes literally 3 seconds to respect actual trans people but I guess that's too much

Same for me! And also just many basic explanations as my primary language just does not feature many of the things that are going on in the trans community!
-
Also on that note. Something which could help, might be like a sheet or a picture or something that could help for describing things correctly and respectfully? Things are changing rapidly, but having a base to refer to would be really cool!
