Just a quick note: Although Inkbunny has mature and adult rated art invisible when not logged in, I found out, that there's literally just a couple of NSFW check boxes that you have to push to view it.

Super secure! Protects the children!

Yeah, apparently they thing that adding a silly label to the bottom of the site, that says it's only for adults is going to keep people from viewing the mature content on the site. You deactivate those filters, and the front page is nothing but cub porn.pic.twitter.com/vUpWvDavpV

It's been going on for too long. I was exposed to older guys at a young age who were using the fandom as a way to get close to venerable children. We need to do better.

I just want websites to enforce their currently exhausting policies. That and find a better way to make sure someone is 18

I agree or disagree depending on what you mean by protection. I feel enough is done to hide the porn. Horny 14 year olds are gonna be horny, so long as we make it so they can't stumble across it if they don't want it, I feel that's enough.

What we do really need to work on is support and education to help stop pedophiles from grooming minors. Increase awareness that this is not ok, and make it easier for victims to come forward.

The question is how, I remember about half my life ago at around 15 browsing on to the VCL which had few warnings about what you might find there. It took till I was about 16-17 before I started actually talking to people I didn't know iRL online. Different world these days.
-
I don't even know cause I was looking at porn on the internet at 13 c.c and talking to people as well.
-
I do have the suspicion that the actual problem of protecting young people from online predators often gets accidentally twisted in to protecting them from ever seeing adult content which is a matter for parents, not content websites.
-
Nothing is going to stop kids from seeing adult content, except for maybe requiring a credit card or something to view adult content?? Not that I think under age people seeking adult stuff is actually a problem. The solution lies in education, imo.
-
There should be more resources and panels and stuff for younger folks at cons and on websites that identify the type of behaviour from other people that is unhealthy and a warning sign. I know I didn't know the signs when I was that age and like, I did some stupid stuff.
