I know it's a really small convention. To those who've been there do you think it was worth while? Was there a lot of stuff in the dealer's room and artist alley? Were panels good? Is there anything really cool worth mentioning? If you had to travel from another state to get there (likely via a short plain ride) would you still consider it worth it? Is there anythign really cool I should know?
Hi This was my first con and I enjoyed it. The dealers room seemed to have a wide range of stuff, it was easy to approach the artists in Artists Alley, the lack of long lines and heaving crowds was a bonus from my point of view. The panels I attended were interesting, informative and for the most part entertaining. The small size of the con was part of the reason I chose this one, it has a more ‘family' feel as in after wandering round for a few hours you know most people there by sight at the least. I took part in the board game tournament, which was a blast and one of the ‘escape from the room’ events, which was very well run, and enormous fun. The holo-photography workshop was very cool. I flew in from the UK and I consider it money well spent, I’m certainly planning to return in two years. Hope this helps.
Thanks for posting! I was hoping to go this one of these years; have been to the Fur the More con, just a wee bit north, a few years back, and that was fun. I think as you say, a smaller size con can feel a lot more cozy. I think Fur the More had an attendance of about 900 or so; any idea on the turnout, here? The board gaming room there was also a nice 'getaway' from the commotion, as well, at points.
I can't recommend it for dealers though. I did better at other small cons like FurSquared and even MFM. There's no reason FAU can't have 1500+ attendees.
