Officially most popular user on FA according to stats?

By Jasonafex, 2 months ago
We accidentally stumbled upon this information doing our research for the new platform. You can find the full report over on https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/furaffinity.net

• FA is #530 most trafficked website in the US, #1350 globally (#800 in it's prime)
• Most searched keyword that leads people to FA : Jasonafex

I seem to have more user engagement then any other artist on FA. My profile is about to hit 4,000,000 views. This is a nice confidence boost for our potential New Furry/Fantasy art platform. I may be able to pull more traffic to the website then predicted.

You're amazing at what you do, it's honestly no wonder people are drawn here because of you. :)

mostly because of the drama and the tweets and all the blocking going on. At least what I would assume. :v

Let's not forget the FA drama, lmao. It's been around since the dawn of furries. :P

The funny thing I see about this whole 'furry drama' ordeal is that, there's drama in anything, at some point no matter the community it's gonna have that 'cancerous' era. Being that humans are animals selves, they have such primal urges and instincts to make a mess out of everything, everywhere. That being said, modern humans are just more 'contained' humans than our prior brethren as tame as we can be, but at times they get overwhelmed with their primal desires and the beast unleashes. Making for an entertaining show I might add.

Considering this, I personally would put it like this: "Since the dawn of man"

H0Rs3 H0Rs3 was another one who brought a lot of people in. How I actually found this site was through animations I found at Comdotgame.com from both you and H0rs3 both.

That's the silly part. Haters pleading people to not check out my stuff, just plants a seed and they go do it anyway. I tell them repeatedly, just ignore it! Anytime there is 'drama', we get a big boost in follows.

Yeah, they inadvertently bring more traffic to the person they don't want getting traffic. It's a psychological thing essentially... the people will do the opposite of that and instead get a curiosity of sorts and proceed to see what they find. The best way to keep somebody from gaining publicity is just not to say anything and let them fall into obscurity in due time naturally. So, a 'shooting one's self in the foot' situation with the hatters.

Something like that, a very fascinating thing looking into the human mind altogether it is. When looking at life through a scientifical way, everything makes sense and it's all simplified with that being said.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Yeah she tried to suppress a guy that took aerial photos of her mansion, threatening legal action. The website had barely any traffic at all. Once the scandal got out, millions checked out the website out of sheer curiosity.

The more people try to censor anything, the more popular it becomes. Gab exists as a counter-statement to Twitter censorship, the platform I would like to make is a counter-statement to FA doing the same here. It's why 'Nazifurs' and the 'Alt-right' are made out to be more dangerous now then ever before. People keep talking about it, so it remains relevant.
  emissary

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

And the far more dangerous bit is that most of it tends to be propaganda and yet that propaganda is believed. In the sea of the largely manipulated, words can be powerful. But one must stop to think that: "Humm, perhaps this isn't what it really is". I mean, that whole 'Nazifur' crap, really? Alot of people are offended by it because they're ignorant and fear what they don't understand. Take for instances the Wehrmacht, people thought they were behind the Genocide as well and were seen as evil but no, they were just the soldiers that were fighting for their homeland while it was the SS who were the ones behind it so, the Wehrmacht is seen as evil... and the Swastika is seen as evil, eventhough it was a symbol of peace long before Hitler and the Reich adopted it. Because of evil actions certain things are seen as evil by the heavily cloud-minded.

You'd think people would learn from Trump about how to not talk about people you don't like.

Oh well, That's just Karma. Bad for them, good for you. (I hope you don't take any offense to me comparing you to trump. there's no offence trying to be given.)

For that narrative to be true, we'd need to see diminishing support for failing to produce.

Every comic started has been completed, every collab we participate in we finish our responsibilities first. Our 'first major project' Amorous is finished and has been available on steam free to download for several months.

Are you complaining about games still in development?

why does it not surprise me the next top searched person for FA after Jasonfex is h0rs3. and now it's off to find the top 10 list.
  fek

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Important clarification: Alexa stats aren't a measure of the most popular / most searched person on FA! Rather, it's a measure of which external search terms bring people to FurAffinity! (In other words, the search term "jasonafex" brings a lot of people to FurAffinity, but it doesn't mean that people already on FA are searching for him most.) Important distinction, in the world of SEO!

Here's a quick popularity (views/day) spreadsheet. It's not comprehensive (I just put in the most popular people in my watchlist), but it's still pretty neat:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet.....it?usp=sharing
  iratami

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Yeah I should have been a bit more clear with my wording. though from the several lists I have found the top 10-20 artists haven't really changed that much over the last year, at least not the names in the lists. but thanks for this spreadsheet ^^ may have to add some of them to my watch list.
  iratami

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Also how was I not watching you already? brain quit failing me.
  talarath

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

It's also not even that accurate. Alexa stats are based on the people who use the alexa toolbar and other estimations.
The only one with accurate info is those with access to FA's GA account or internal analytics service.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Is this spreadsheet basing it's results on account creation? I didn't officially join the community until 2 years after I made my account. My activity officially starts as of my first upload.

Better metrics is somehow breaking down views as of the past 12 months.
  fek

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Yup, bumping the date up to the date of your first submission puts you at a 1582!

Would be really nice if we could get proper stats from FA; would looooove to see some "past 12 months running" data! Alas, I highly doubt we're ever gonna get access to the nitty gritty.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

There was actually something similar to this via a website called 'popufur' or something, live-tracking total followers of every user on FA. However It was taken down likely due the literal popularity contest that was transpiring.

I mostly consider this a neat revelation and something I can utilize productively.

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

That's nice. Not sure why it matters, though.

Is there a problem with the furry fandom? Maybe, but again: Who cares?

Don't try to save the fandom. Others thought there was a problem, tried to fix it, and failed miserably.

Don't try to change the fandom. You can't. All you can do is change yourself.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

I care. Some of of my followers also probably care about the future of the community.

Can I change the fandom? No, that's not my prerogative. I can however, make efforts to make my own little slice of the pie more enjoyable to consume, create and socialize. I don't enjoy using FA or it's alternatives. There's reasons that help me come to that conclusion that I would like to attempt to address with a new platform.
  rcruskin

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

I'd recommend just stating that, for reasons, you're going to use your own platform going forward. This preachiness may turn people off your work.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

I have already. I started with recognizing problems, offering solutions and now I'm acting upon them in a non-intrusive way. No-one is obligated to use the new platform.

The only message I 'preach' is I would rather use something else. I shouldn't have to feel loyal to FA just because I'm a furry, that's the kind of Identity Politics I want to avoid.
  rcruskin

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

The reason I ceased following you on twitter, and will probably soon cease following you here is because you have been remarkably preachy about what is wrong with the fandom.
  emissary

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

There isn't a problem perse, you'll always get a bad batch of apples regardless of whatever fandom it is and that's something people fail to realize. I see it everywhere in whatever fandoms there are. Even in the automotive world (for example) you'll get bad apples bashing other peoples' tastes in cars (and they're legit, not in a joking way). Should we let these bad apples stop us from enjoying what we enjoy? No, otherwise if we do, they win and we don't want that do we? I ignore the bad apples and enjoy what I enjoy and if someone is a bad apple I move on and find a more favorable person within the fandom to hang around. It's easy see?

Considering human nature, you'll have the self-righteous or whatever knocking on your door-step for a 'visit' anywhere. The problem lies in humanity itself if there actually was a problem.

Congrats on officially being the PewDiePie of the furry fandom! I'm sure a lot of people are unhappy that someone who doesn't share their exact views and opinions has taken this title too

Your content is great so this is not surprising. If anything does shock me, it's that any furry site has reached #530 US and #1350 worldwide as most trafficked website. Wasn't the mainstream supposed to look at us as a bunch of degenerates offending their fragile sexual morality from the ancient times? Or perhaps that's over now that the fandom has modern social justice and adopted their hatred toward different lifestyles and opinions?

I’m not quite sure what you’re aiming for but I like good art and if I find a Good artist that I like. Then I’ll be more and happy to support them No matter What of their level of popularity or whatever.

Now when it comes to drama it’s just meaningless garbage that I don’t care about and anyone that get stuck into it get blinded by one side of the story and never hear the other side it & only causing conflict but end of this contract they are notice as heroes or villains to The dividing groups of situation and will get tons of attention because that’s what Most furry secretly want is attention.

Personally I don’t know anything about you jasonafex other than your artwork and sometimes you live streams So my opinion of you it’s usually pretty maxed but I still give everyone a opportunity to prove who they really are at their core something that I can stay quiet few people don’t do on the Internet anymore. I’m so sorry this is quiet long but I’m just getting kind of tired keeping this in my head and even if you guys don’t listen to it, well at least it was it was said at least and I hope you all have a good and happy life.

Just make sure the new platform has a good name. The interface should be simple and support mobile devices too. I’d also like to see better support for written content (.txt, .rtf, .doc, docx, .pdf, and .pages, etc—Did I forget any?). Also, support for larger modern image files would be nice too.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

We're leaving the name to last but we won't goof it I promise. We'd need to explain the sites purpose in the title.

We're designing things with a mobile-first initiative. I know how neglected writers, musicians and alternative media creators are on these kinds of platforms and I have plans to elevate them to an equal paradigm. Hopefully with the use of HTML5 we can have a bit of an overlap, allowing writers to use art from the site as a backdrop for their stories, pages and a swiping feature.

Traffic is traffic; regardless of the reason. This is why the media tends to sensationalize the news. Negative emotions bring in viewers. People flock to drama and bad news like moths to the flame. Whether you are famous or infamous it really doesn't matter to the stats.

You should do something awesome for the furry community that benefits the entire community and can permanently cement you platinum star popularity! Why not try finding ways to help talented but unknown artists, and show people that there are many worthwhile aspects of the furry fandom? Or best yet, find something in the furry fandom and improve it! Make the fandom the best it can be with your super awesome popufurs status!

  group17

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

Until you get an idea of how exactly people are coming to and utilizing your page you really can't exactly take this information for granted at all.

Whether you agree with it or not, you are a controversial voice in the fandom and as such you have gotten a lot of ire. Your FA page is also the top google result under your own name, so everytime somebody searches "Jasonafex" your FA page comes up.

If you were to try to piggyback your own website off that name alone, it wouldnt rank anywhere near the top pages you are mentioned on because the domain strength of them all is very super strong.

So, really, you kinda need the internal data from FA itself to really see, collectively, how people are coming to this page and what the actual bounce rate is and all that before you really put a lot of stock into that data. A lot of people fall into that same trap of, "Oh look I rank on alexa and am the top keyword I must be good!" and then get annihilated in the end, so just be weary.

This is a bit of my realm I suppose.
  jasonafex

#link     Posted: 2 months ago

There is no predisposed bias to this conclusion. It's much like the scientific method where we discovered and outcome, and the rest is up to hypothesis.

There's all sorts of reasons why I may be the most searched user here. This was discovered while doing research for our website and if it is correlated with popularity, then it's useful as it roughly acutes for the kind of draw we may receive on release.
