How come that there is just so few information about this supposedly Kurdish ''Mahmudli'' clan in the area north of Tabqa. The only information I have found about it is that Mahmudli town was owned by a Kurdish landlord Mahmud Nadim Urfali, whom also owned all of Derbazîn.

The inhabitants of Dêrsim area are all Zaza speaking. But when you look at the dispersion of clans there, you notice that most of them are known as Kurmanc clans. This means that Dêrsimis are linguistically Zazafied Kurmancs. It means that they were also Sunni before Alevi.

The old name of Al-Zahiriyah somewhat hints to them having Kurdish origins?

The FB owner did not exactly tell me this, but I reckon that the inhabitants of Qir Maghar, Bi'r Al-Kurd, Al-Hilwaniyah, Qandarliyah, Ras Al-Juz and Tukhar Taymu are also related to them.
