A few follow-ups for the completists among you. -The Manafort team refiled its document to fix the redactions. -The court has ordered the govt to file the "factual and evidentiary basis" of the five breaches it alleges next Monday 1/14; Manafort will have until 1/18 to reply

Outside of the redactions, there are some other interesting revelations in Manafort's document: He met with Mueller's team 12x, testified before a grand jury 2x, and Mueller's team indicated outside court they have no plans for new charges against him for lying. Manafort's lawyers asked Judge Berman if they could file their reply to Mueller under seal. The judge agreed to the request but ordered Manafort's lawyers to make a redacted version publically available. So this misstep was not deliberate, just incompetent.

Don't be too sure. We would have never uncovered any of this if Manafort knew how to make a PDF. Because he couldn't, that's what dragged Gates into all this

Have they ever redacted in this way before? What software does the firm use, what training do attorneys receive on redactions? These aren’t exactly hard to find or confidential facts.

Just verified that the PDF is also not "locked," so if you have Acrobat Pro you can easily remove the redaction blocks.
