Tamron is one of the top Japanese independent lens makers, and this is an interchangeable Adapt-a-Matic mount for fitting some of the company's automatic lenses from the early 1970s to many classic Petri breech lock bayonet manual focus 35mm SLR cameras (but with no meter coupling - see the Compatibility section below for more information). Please note that these mounts are NOT interchangeable with the earlier T-mount (T2) manual or later Adaptall or Adaptall 2 lenses. Tamron Adapt-a-Matic lenses were the company's first automatic types with interchangeable mounts, and can be identified by examining the rear with no mount fitted. Adapt-a-Matic lenses have a large external screw thread (approximately 57mm in diameter) which accepts the mount's locking collar, whereas Adaptall lenses have an internal bayonet mount with a silver lock release button. Adapt-a-Matic mounts are fitted to the lens by matching the red dots, inserting the auto diaphragm lever into the opening at the rear of the lens, and rotating the mount until the lens's locating screw drops into the slot. The locking ring is then screwed onto the rear of the lens, holding the mount in place.

This mount fits a wide variety of Petri breech-lock SLR cameras, including the Petri FT, FT II, FTE, FTEE, FA-1, Penta V2, V3, Petri Flex V, V6 and 7, the Carena SFL2 and any other models having the Petri bayonet mount. It provides automatic diaphragm, compatible with stopped down TTL metering on suitable manual cameras, though automatic exposure is NOT possible on the auto models.

The mount is in very good condition and fully working order. The auto diaphragm coupling works smoothly with little play. Cosmetically it shows only normal signs of use with some surface scratches here and there. The box is showing signs of age but complete, the cap is in good condition, and the instruction leaflet is complete and legible.

No dents, dings or deep scratches, and overall it's in nice shape!

It's NOT compatible with Petri SLR cameras with the M42 screw lens mount, including the Petri TTL, FT 500, FT 1000, MF-T1000, MF-1 and MF-2, or the Petri GX-1 and MF-3, which were Cosina-made cameras with the Pentax K bayonet lens mount.
