If questions or comments break the rules or are inappropriate, the report button is the fastest way for the mod team to see it and address the problems. For example:
No Build Me A Routine, r/AsianBeauty! If you need assistance with your routine and need help with adding a product or two or understanding routine order, that’s fine. Please refrain from just stating a skin concern then expecting people to build a routine from scratch. It is important to do due diligence in understanding your skin type and needs.
Non-AB questions or comments. Having non-AB products in your routine is totally fine! Only asking for specific advice/recommendations on non-AB products is not.
Rude comments and snark. Fairly self explanatory but for more detail, check out our Posting Guidelines
When directing someone to the sidebar: provide specific links. I.e. for someone asking about Allergies or Beginner Guides, link them to the specific subsections within AB University, rather than saying ‘it’s in the sidebar.’
Finally, a reminder that no one is obligated to answer your questions. If you've repeatedly asked the same question without a response, it may be best to review and see if it can be reworded or if the information is readily available in the sidebar materials. If you have any questions, please contact the moderators.

Are you on a no buy? Trying to stick to a more minimalist routine? Let's discuss the anti-haul, where more isn't necessarily better!
Hi everyone. I have fine, straight hair aka thin, stringy hair that can never hold a curl and never have volume. I've been training it so that it doesn't need to be washed everyday and it's been working! But I noticed my ends seem to get a little dry between washes. Does anyone have recs for a leave-in conditioner or even hair oil? It would be great if it was something I can use with both wet and dry hair. It doesn't have to be Korean, but anything I can purchase in-person in Seoul. Thanks!
occasionally, I do hand or feet masks, and put products I don't like on my hand or foot so that I can go through those more quickly and buy new stuff :)
also I like foot bath and used foot salts bought from Japanese store
Have a rant about your routine or beauty products? Let us know! Have a rave about the newest product in your lineup? Let us know! If you've been using something new and want to tell the world about it. Let us know!
If you have been eyeing up a product but are looking for a mini review, ask away!
Post all of your deals, memes, gifs, hauls, sheet mask selfies, and other fluff. Keep it fun, and adhere to general conduct of the sub (be civil to each other).
This thread is designated for business interactions for the month of December! This is where businesses may post their discount codes, giveaways or otherwise self-promote.
Note that as a business, you do not need prior approval to post in this thread, but this thread is the only place on our subreddit where you will be allowed to post about your business.
Our regular subscribers are welcome to use this thread to direct questions towards businesses and brand representatives, such as regarding fakes and shipping times, but we cannot guarantee a response - this will depend entirely on whether a business or brand representative have a reddit account, and if they choose to participate.
For our full reasoning behind our new business rules, see this post.

Sooo it’s safe to say that over 2018 my skin has improved remarkably enough, but I still get individual zits every once in a while. Sometimes they show up around my period, so I guess that’s hormonal, but sometimes they just... they just pop up. What are your current go-to spot treatments for when pimples pop up?? Do you find them best paired with anything?
Comment below your hair type as well!
Hello, as the title suggests there is going to be a reformulation of Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Line (News Release) and it says on the website that the new "improved" products will be sold in Japan starting from 9th February 2019 priced at 950 JPY RRP.

However, the new list of ingredients hasn't been released yet but mentioned on the website:
So, what are their claims?
This new product line is called Biore UV Athlizm Skin Protect Line (News Release) a portmanteau from the words Athletic and -ism.....yeah. Anyway, Biore claims that these products stay on evenly in severely hot and humid weather. This gets me very excited as I live in a very hot and humid area (75% - 85% and 30°C to 37°C during day time) so I would like to test this or these as soon as I get my hands on them. Will be sold from 9th February 2019 in-store with limited availability on Japanese online stores at an earlier date priced at 1944 JPY RRP. internal cries and gasp but to be fair it has more grammes.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Biore UV SaraSara Line (so, Perfect Milk, Bright Milk, Face Milk and Spray) is repackaged but no reformulation. Only the cardboard packagings seem to change to my eyes.
Here if you want to see the complete list of Biore UV lines (in Japanese). On the table there are star ratings. The first one is its suitability for children and the second is how well it interacts with makeup (whether makeup slip or not).
I LOVED Deepika's wedding makeup . It was earthy and smoky, yet simple, and really went well with her outfit. Constance Wu at the Emmys blew me away! The mid part really looked cute on her and she was glowing, although I wasn't the biggest fan of her dress.
AB is overflowing with creative makeup and fashion looks. I want to hear what celebrity/beautuber looks caught your eye this year!
Know about an upcoming AB meet-up in your area? Want to plan one? Looking for one to join? This post is for discussing upcoming meet-ups at length, without fear of spamming the subreddit & compiling all that info in one easy-to-find, accessible location. Brought to you by request of several friendly AB users. ♥
This does not mean meet-up posts are not welcome outside of this thread! If you have urgent information to share, such as cancellations, first time meetings, or location change, please feel free to PSA it up! If you want to share pictures from your meet-up, that def deserves its own thread! But for general announcements, helps with scheduling or drawing together attendees, so on and so forth, this thread exists to have an easy access point for all. :)

I love DiPi's videos, but I've started to notice that her videos are now sponsored by cosmetic brands. I've been trusting her advice 100% because there's so much science she explains, but now that the videos are sponsored...should I start being more skeptical of her videos? Does anyone have any thoughts? It's one thing to watch youtube videos of people recommending products while knowing they're inexperienced, but it's something else to watch videos that seem to be grounded in science when there's backstage promotion going on.

Per the last post here, the November event with Glow Recipe went super well! We had a really good turnout and a fun time chatting with both Sarah & Christine! You can see some of our pics of the event in my IG post here.
Our next meetup is on Dec 30th (Sunday). We will be having korean bbq in Midtown along with a White Elephant gift exchange! Currently, all spots are full (we have 10+ attendees) but if you think you can come, I can put you on the waitlist and let you know if there is an opening!
We are always looking to expand and recruit more members and make new friends! There's nothing more refreshing than meeting other skincare addicts who can "speak our language" and be nerdy! If you're interested in this upcoming December event or want to join the group for any future events, please comment below and I'll give you the info to our Discord group! Thanks for reading and I look forward to meeting everyone soon! :D
TL;DR - tried a product with unimpressive ingredients but got impressive results.
I recently got a sample of a skin brightening/anti-aging product. I’ve seen it advertised and raved about for a while but I’ve ignored it because being science minded the lack of impressive ingredients turned me off.
Fast forward, tried the sample and been wow’d since day 1.
Wondering if this has happened to anyone else before with AB products?
Context: was idly browsing through Japanese skincare while on holiday in Taiwan and came across this baby moisturiser (scroll to bottom). Tested it on my skin just for kicks and it just - melted directly upon application like a dream come true.
Apart from really liking the texture, it doesn’t seem to do anything... which is understandable since there aren’t any fancy ingredients or actives. Would like to seek your opinion on using baby products as adult skincare - is anyone using it on the regular and how has it changed your skin?

After lurking here for a period of time, I decided on my first post on preservative system. I am not an expert in this and really hoping for some answers from some of you who might have more knowledge.
I start to research cosmetic ingredients and find an interesting pattern, Korean beauty products tend to have much less preservative or only have paraben alternative, like phenoxyethanol, e.g., CosRx. Some extreme cases in K beauty products like Benton where neither paraben or phrnoxyethanol is used. However, Japanese products tends to have paraben and more preservatives , e.g., SK II Essence, Labo Labo.
The fact that there is no % on the label makes it even more difficult to analyze and compare which one is actually good. I’ve read some blogs saying that because of lack of preservatives in Benton, its products had gone bad during summer transportation, so people suggest buying them in winter. I went to local k beauty store that carry Benton and notice expiration date for the products on the shelf varied a lot, it has manufacturing date and expiration date.
There is also recent trend on organic preservatives, but I felt there is also tendency that chemists might blend in more of those because that is less tested on effectiveness vs paraben.
What’s your op on preservatives?
Also name skin type if possible + mini review
