[Personal] I just washed my face with mens body wash

Idk if this is the right tag but Im having a one night stand and I asked if I could use his shower and I washed my face with men's body wash. I've never felt so unclean. I just wanted to tell someone who would understand

Happens to the best of us: I once ran out of facial cleanser in my swim bag, so I used the body wash from the gym dispenser, instead, and then applied my hyaluronic serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen, as if nothing had happened... ...and I survived.

Life is about experiences, not perfection - don't ever fault yourself for having a good time ;)

level 2

I LOVE how this sub gives some serious, no-joking emotional support to this problem. Never change, SCA.

level 2

I went straight to the gym after work the other day and had a serious internal debate about whether it was better to workout in makeup or wash it off with hand soap from the bathroom.

Honest to god, I never wash my face before a workout, and I usually am wearing a mineral sunscreen and concealer. I know some skincare gurus recommend doing so, but I've seen no difference doing it vs not doing it. After I finish my entire workout (some combo of weights, swimming, and/or treadmill running) I usually will double-cleanse my face with a mildly foaming cleanser (and some would even argue that this is too aggressive) and then apply a couple of hydrating serums, a mid-weight, fragrance-free moisturizer, and a sunscreen, if it's sunny outside. That gets all of the sweat and gunk off, replenishes moisture and lipids (particularly important after swimming), and gives me a bit of sun protection for the trip home. Once I'm there and ready for bed, I'll do my normal skincare routine. Done and done.

People fault themselves for way too many things. A big cornerstone of skincare is basically not to do excessively stupid things for excessive lengths of time: using a body wash as a cleanser in a pinch that may occur a couple of times per year, max, isn't going to make a person age five years overnight...it just won't.

Whenever I start thinking a guy is out of my league I remember that he probably uses some 5 in 1 body wash/shampoo/face wash/floor cleaner/dog shampoo stuff. No conditioner, no moisturizer. I don't understand how you can live like that. Just feeling dry all the time, polar ice action gun scented. Judging them so hard

polar ice action gun scented

I almost choked on my gum. I think that might actually be my fiancé’s body wash scent.

level 3

For a second I thought you wrote "I almost choked on my gun" 😂

level 2

This YouTuber once suggested making soaps for men and flavours involved campfire, diesel, and gun

level 3

Flavour as in toothpaste, electrolite hydrations drink, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toner, eyedrops, , and cologne all in one? What is gun even supposed to smell like and why would anyone want to smell like a car? tbh I like fire smell but not in what I know would be a pH 37 soap bar.

level 4

It was a joke more than anything probably but I like the smell of petrol too but I don't think as a cologne 😂

level 5

Yea, I was spray painting outside and this dude and has girlfriend asked to do some 'cause it smelled so good. I was wearing a mask and dying. Hopefully. Demeter perfume has a dirt scented one that smells like really good dirt if you are a gardener and know the smell of really good dirt so I guess people like anything. Personally, I want to try their book one!

level 3

My adult nephew's favorite scent is coal. I bought him a medicated body cleanser for his skin and he said it didn't help his skin but he liked it anyway because it smells like coal.

level 2

After almost 10 years I've finally gotten my husband to start using face wash....only to find out he uses the same washcloth for his butt and his face, multiple times before getting a new one 😧

level 3

Me right now...like this legitimately horrifies me.

walks away down a seemingly endless road in despair

level 4

Ha! That was definitely me when I found out!

level 3

Ewww! So you’ve stopped kissing his face?

level 4

We sat down and had a long talk lol.

level 3

Oh nooooo 😂

level 2

Dog shampoo.

Boy does that bring up memories.

level 2

I'm a guy, super lazy, and I don't even use body wash for anything but my body. To be honest I have stopped using conditioner because if any of it gets on my face I get closed comedones and whiteheads. I would have to contort my back into an uncomfortable backward leaning position, bracing and balancing myself like I'm trying to surf my tub to keep myself from falling backwards. All of that effort to keep the runoff from going down my face which was basically an impossible task. I just said screw it and I don't use it anymore. I'm not really using shampoo more than once a week now too. I noticed my hair is much more wavy/curly now though which is more preferable to the poofy mass of dry flyaways that I would usually have. Sadly my widows peak still looks like that and I can't seem to do anything about it 😩

level 3

I can't live without conditioner lol. Have you tried any without silicones?

level 4

Honestly I'm not sure. When I was using conditioner I never looked at the ingredients. Thankfully this subreddit helped to open my eyes to the diverse range of ingredients that make up a product.

Do you have any recommendations for conditioners?

level 5

I would check our r/curlyhair and try their sidebar! I'm currently using conditioners from indie brands like luvmilk and cocoapink but apparently v05 is silicone free!

level 2

I'm literally laughing so hard right now at this, I'm crying

level 2

Yes! And then they’re so astonished when we have soft skin. It’s called moisturizer bro

level 2

My fiancé uses the 3 in 1 from sauve.

5 years in tho and I’ve finally got him using moisturizer after that junk.

level 2

New dating mantra right here. Lmao thank youuuu for bringing this into my life 😂

level 3

Hahaha don't let those axe 10-in-1 fuckboys mess with your emotions

level 4

💀

level 2

Comments like this are why I love this sub. Actually snorted I laughed so hard.

level 2

5 in 1 body wash/shampoo/face wash/floor cleaner/dog shampoo stuff

lmaooo

level 1

i use my husband's bodywash sometimes (it just smells so goooood!) but I follow up heavily with moisturizer. I've tried to get him to moisturize and he goes"Why? I'm fine without it"

because no one wants sandpaper burns from skin, that's why.

level 2

Why exfoliate when my boyfriend rubs his unmoisturized, stubbley face against mine? 🙃

level 1

My girlfriend just showed me this - as someone with 5/1 body wash, I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now.

level 2

But those different parts of your body are all different textures and compositions and require different thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings

level 1

I’m trying to get my boyfriend into skincare. “Why would I moisturize? My skin is fine!”

level 2

Same with my husband. I'm here for you, lady. (Also I love your username because Elphie is my dreaaaam Broadway role)

level 3

My dream role is Nessarose! I have yet to see Wicked on Broadway, but I’ve seen it every time the tour comes through. I love how every Elphaba and Glinda put a different spin on the roles.

level 4

I am proud to say I've seen it 4 times...including Broadway! I was hoping this year would be the 5th time, but no luck.

level 5

4 for me as well, minus Broadway! It’s different every time for me. My favorite Elphaba I’ve seen is Christine Dwyer.

level 6

Same! My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I love it!

level 2

"I don't have time for that and I don't need SPF" 🙄

level 3

He even had the nerve to suggest I’d be wrinkly before he would!

level 4

You don't need that negativity in your life lol.

level 5

I’m 2 years older than he is so I swear if I get wrinkles before he does I’ll lose my mind. Hahaha. I’ve never really ~taken care of~ my skin before, but within the last six months it’s become an interest of mine - seeing all the different products and figuring out what works best for me.

level 6

I'm right there with you. Now that I've started and seen the improvement I can't believe I wasn't taking care of my skin before. So much potential.

level 7

He JUST said, “You wouldn’t need moisturizer if you didn’t use cleansers that dry out your skin.” GAAAAAHHHHH.

level 8

😂😂😂😂 My husband said he doesn't need face wash because he has a bar of soap.

put squalane on it31 points · 7 months ago

My fiance always believed skincare was an expensive scam to separate women from their money until I talked him into trying squalane one night. The next morning, his eczema-red cheeks were soft and much less red. Now he uses it every night. He even brought some for himself on a trip recently. (I was so proud.)

That said, you can lead a horse to Cerave, but you can't make him moisturize. The "acceptable appearance" bar for men is so low, most of them don't feel the need to constantly improve their looks. If his skin isn't hurting him or breaking out, he probably doesn't see any reason to mess with it.

level 3

Squalane is the bomb. I use that in the morning (occasionally switch it up with Virgin Marula oil and rosehip seed oil at night.

My boyfriend always complains that his skin is so dry. Well no shit, you moisturize like once every two weeks

level 3

My guy works a very physical job so he’s always sweating - he gets occasional pimples, but his skin for the most part is okay. I figuredCeraVe AM & PM would work as a starting point, they’ve done wonders for me. He uses a basic exfoliating drugstore cleanser like once a month, I swear. I’ll have to examine his face in depth! 😂

level 2

My husband uses moisturizer and spf. Not consistently but still it's an improvement.

level 1

I am living for this and praying the sex is good. Go forth and prosper

I want to upvote this but it's at 69 points and I can't think of a more fitting number for this comment

Lmfao I love this so much

Is there a difference between patting and rubbing?

level 3

level 4

Hmmm interesting, and hahah that's how I'll be like too!

Do you rub it in first and then start patting? Or do you just straight up pat it on your skin?

level 6

Hmm interesting, I think a put a lot of force while rubbing, so I probably need to stop doing that.

Thank you so much for the information I'll try this out.

Take Care :)

First time I spent the night at my boyfriends house I was like “do you have any face wash I can use?” And he responded with “uhh no. I have hand soap if you want that?”

Needless to say now I leave a bottle of good makeup removing cleanser in his bathroom.

level 2

When I was younger I used handsoap to wash my face all the time. It hurts me thinking about that now.

level 1

I've done this before in a similar situation! It was a minty mens shower gel and my face felt very clean actually, but soooo dry and tight!! Ughhhh

level 2

Lol yeah I feel like they either slip right off your hand before you can lather or you’re left feeling squeaky and dry.

Guy here, switching from Neutrogena face wash to highly dilute bargain basement face wash did wonders for my skin.

∆ I meant that to sound more supportive, I am in admiration of the art that is taking care of one's self. That's why I subscribe to learn from you all.

level 1

I had to use my own shampoo as soap two days in a row. I feel you.

level 2

In college I used conditioner. I wonder which is worse :D

level 3

I use cheap conditioner to shave my legs!

level 4

Nothing beats conditioner to shave legs. That smooooooth feeling is just as good as the first time using It

level 5

Even better, get some of those exfoliating gloves or an exfoliating cloth, use that on your legs before shaving, then shave and OHMYGOD it’s amazing.

level 3

I used conditioner to remove makeup once, it worked pretty well honestly lol. Has lots of oils in it

level 1

I never leave for a potential ONS without a tiny bottle of facewash 😂 I can't stand it, I've turned people down because I don't have the basic products with me... I need skincare rehab.

level 2

Never, girl. Especially not for a ONS. The sex is one night, good skin and looks are forever!

level 1

I'm so glad my partner's roommate is a woman and one that's willing to share in a pinch

level 1

I feel your pain! I was nearing the end of a trip abroad when I forgot my toiletries at a hotel. I washed my face, hair, and etc. with the hotel bar soap for the next few days. My skin was not happy.

I love this sub

level 1

this is so fucking funny 😂

level 1

lmfao to this i relate so hard...my bf washes his face with water, bought him some face wash from the drugstore, he uses it occasionally and likes it, the other day he goes "you should try this sometime it's nice," me, looking at my 15 products organized by pH, "yeah you're cute, but nah"

level 1

Just flew in to visit my parents and couldn't bring my cleanser on the plane, so I had to wash my face and take off my makeup with Irish Spring.

level 1

I used to use antibacterial soap on my face. Probably shamrock scented. I won’t even wash my hands with that stuff now.

level 1

Was it the bodywash or the one nighter that made you feel this way? 😂😂
