Goose gets high on huge haul of pills left in park by selfish litterbug
A goose got high and collapsed after eating prescription sedatives strewn across a park by a thoughtless litterbug.
The bird was seen lying flat on its back with its legs in the air at the park in Huntington Beach, California, after unwittingly guzzling the powerful drugs.
Workers from Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center were alerted to the stricken Canada goose and a stricken seagull that had also eaten the pills, hundreds of which had been scattered across the grass.
Both were found to be suffering from side effects including loss of muscle control, meaning they suffered uncomfortable spasms.
Center manager Lisa Perrone said that without the quick-thinking assistance from a passer-by, both birds would likely have died.

A spokesman for the center explained on Facebook how workers were giving the animals IV fluids in a bid to flush the drugs out of their system.
