    Regarding my book, and a recent conversation with another SF soldier who trained the same ISWAT team, the part of my time in the military I'm most proud of is training Tal Afar SWAT and playing a role in a COIN success story. Those guys fought ISIS tooth and nail. Re: the picture

    Going through old articles, found this from 2016. Amazingly brave Iraqi helicopter pilots flew through storms of bullets in thinly armored helicopters. You wouldn't want to survive being shot down in ISIS territory. IAA is an unsung success story of ISF

    as the last ISIS pockets in the MERV are cleared out. Plenty of other options to keep the pressure on ISIS in Syria like HIMARS arty raids or UAVs to remotely accompany local CT strike forces.

    Staging SOF strike forces at bases in Iraq for cross-border raids seems like the best way 2 salvage something out this mess, esp since the CJTF effort in Syria is already naturally going to shift from continuous advise&assist on the ground to counterterrorism raids
