  10. The moral of the story: You cannot completely execute a military plan in the doors of an opposing NATO ally and major power in the Middle East while it perceives the whole thing as not an anti terror operation but something that threatens its very existence.

  11. McGurk’s legacy: • Reshaped the Iraq policy in favour of secretarian Maliki, which in part played a role in the rise of ISIS • Designed an anti-ISIS fight based on a partnership with a US designated terror group. Now it is also in ruins due to miscalculations
