~Swallowtail_Productions' Journals
Now that you've had time to digest the latest Digest, we'd like to know what your thoughts on it are!

What did you think of the improvements, like our new tag system? What are we doing right and what are we still doing wrong? Did you run into any problems while purchasing or reading the magazine? Is there content here you were really happy to see, and what content you were disappointed to see lacking? What are your recommendations for our future? We want to hear whatever you have to say!

If you wish to talk about your impressions of particular entries, that's fine too, but try to keep things constructive. Some of our artists may be checking in on this journal, and although it's fine if you're disappointed in their work, we all still want to encourage them on their future endeavors.

As conversations (hopefully) start, we'll be posting your suggestions and recommendations in the journal section below:

That's right, after an obscene amount of delays, we're finally launching our first mission into space THIS MONDAY! We're obviously very excited to be be taking you all on this trip with us, and eager to share with you all the wondrous (and ravenous) sights to be seen deep in the darkest depths of the cosmos. It's like an odyssey, into space, but with lots of vore!

Consumers Digest 2: SPACE!
is a variety vore magazine containing art from many different community artists, each of which is compensated a percentage of every sale. We'll be posting a full list of all the contributors closer to the release date (likely on Monday), including a preview of all the content featured in the 'zine. There are two versions, Mild and Spicy. I wonder if you can guess which one has the adult content? There is no repeated content between the issues: That's right, each one is 100% its own unique compilation. And with each one massing over 50 pages, together they both equal 100+ full pages of new, out-of-this-world voracious adventure! As if that weren't enough, buying both at once in a bundle will include a small additional payload of content that is not available in either 'zine!

Sorry about the recent absence on our end. Currently this whole organization of ours is run by only two people, and throughout the beginning of this year we've both run into various time-consuming personal issues. Luckily those are being resolved and we can once again turn our attention back to running this thing!

So, if we've let any discussions lapse or left a problem unaddressed, now is the time to remind us. Send us a note or an email and we'll get everything back on track.

Additionally, there's going to be a slight delay on the release of Consumers Digest 2: SPACE! (although since we didn't set a specific release date that probably shouldn't be too much of a problem). More news on that as it develops, but we're very close to a release and the content we've received for it so far has been amazing. Thank you to all the artists who continued working on that while we ran into our issues. There's still time to contribute if you want to get involved! Space in the magazines proper is closed, but we'll be releasing a bonus bundle with extra content for certain sales packages and slots there are still wide open. You won't make as much as you would if you were in the magazine, but these are revenue-generating spots and a great opportunity to show off your work. If you're interested, send us a note or an email.

Finally, some news on our other projects: 'Round Campus Issue 2 is on the way (tails crossed within a month's time) and another series some of you may already be familiar with will be entering the Swallowtail family soon as well. Hopefully we'll have a freshly overhauled website waiting for all our new releases when they get to the storefront!

The lean times are through, now on to the hunt!

It's for your own good, then, to take a few minutes and let us know what you want us to make next for you. We exist to serve you, after all. And we want you fat and delicious and happy.

5) Do you or would you play games on Steam? [Y] [N]

6) Are you interested in Handheld and/or Mobile Gaming? [Y] [N]

Some of you have already given us some valuable feedback, which is awesome, but now we'd like to open the forum up to everybody: Tells us what you thought!

If you bought the magazine: Did you like it? Did you hate it? Were you somewhere in between or all over the place? What were your minor quibbles and major problems and what are your ideas to make it better? Did we do anything you want to see us do again?

If you didn't buy it: Why? Was it the price or content or artist selection or something else entirely? Do you want to see something else? Did our advertising campaign annoy you? Is there something about us that just rubs you the wrong way?

And of course, possibly most important, what do you want to see next?

We want to be your production company, because you know what you want better than we do. But we can't give you what you want if you don't give us some direction. No matter how crazy, unique, or cost-inefficient your suggestions are, let us hear 'em all! Whatever your opinion of us now is, we guarantee you that tomorrow we'll be better. We'd better be. If not, well, you only have yourself to blame for not leaving a comment!

In case you hadn't heard, Consumers Digest is now officially on sale! Two magazines, 50 pages each, all unique content in each issue! You can drop on by our website to pick it up right now if you're so inclined:

http://www.swallowtailproductions.com/

Now that that bit of self promotion is out of the way, on to the real question at hand: Why should you buy it? What's in it for you? What's in it period?

Well over the next couple of days we'll be posting more teasers of the content inside, so although we can't reveal whole pages we will certainly be giving you a good sample size of our Sampler Platter to help you make up your mind if you're still on the fence about buying.

In this world of modern internets technology, though, some of you may be wondering if there's really a point to buying anything at all. There's more art than you could ever see in your lifetime on this site alone, and certainly there is no shortage of vore content on the horizon. If you just want new content all you have to do is refresh a page, and as far as we're aware of that doesn't cost any money... YET. And then of course there is the emerging idea that all media should be available for free, and while we aren't trying to dive into that debate it's certainly fair to say there is validity to the concept.

We're not trying to insinuate that any of those thoughts are wrong. We aren't saying capitalism is good, and we're not even trying to make you feel guilty for not supporting artists. Instead, we will simply tell you what happens when you buy our magazine, and we'll let you decide from there if that's worth your investment. It's as simple as that!

The first thing that happens is we pay our artists. 75% of our profits go straight to the contributing writers and picture-drawers, divided up evenly by their page count. We do not post restrictions on our artists (we kept things clean in the Mild version, but that was by the artist's discretion and we censored nothing) and we allow them to draw whatever they want. Traditionally artists in the furry and/or vore community have a difficult time making a living off of their own work, instead most rely on other peoples' ideas in the form of (sometimes private) commissioned work, so this is a rare opportunity for a lot of creators to pursue their passions towards the promise of some real reward beyond links and comment accolades. A system like ours gives some of your favorite content creators a chance to make what they want, on their terms, and makes it all publicly available. In the future, with success, we'll be starting long-form series, facilitating big ideas that otherwise would not have the infrastructure to prosper. We acknowledge this magazine will probably be available for free via pirated means before this journal is even posted. If that's how you wish to read it we can't do anything about that, but we can ask you to support the artists if you enjoyed their efforts. We'll soon be putting a 'tips' button up on our website for that purpose, and 100% of the money donated through it will go to the artists. We at Swallowtail won't take a cent.

The next thing we do (after we pay our bills) is we reinvest in content development. Swallowtail will not be complete with the release of this first mag, instead this is just our beginning. In addition to the aforementioned series development and future editions of Consumers Digest (some perhaps with crazy themes!), we will be pursing interactive entertainment, innovative applications, and yes some fun toys and merchandising. These are currently in various stages of production, so we can't go too deep into details without running the risk of stumbling into false promises, but that's also a good thing! Because we can't reinvest in the community without hearing from the community first. We'll be posting plenty of polls and questionnaires and otherwise opportunities for you to tell us what you want, but right now in this comments section is as good a time as any to start giving us your feedback and ideas.

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with the way we have things now. Free art, lots of content, some artists managing to pay their rent. But, in terms of resources, this community we all love is quite disorganized and running on fumes. With more investment comes more growth, and with more growth comes even more content. Bigger content and better content, content you've always wanted but haven't had the ability to fully fund by yourself. We may not change your mind with a journal, but we hope we'll be able to change your mind with our results to follow. Or maybe you just don't care about anything other than seeing some cool new artwork and all of this seems excessive for a little fetish magazine. If that's the case, well, did you miss the link at the top of the page? ;)

EDIT: So it should go without saying this journal is now old and submissions for our first issue are closed. However stay close, we have more opportunities to get involved coming in April!

So you want to be in Consumers Digest? What? Did we already cover that in the title of this journal? Alright, we'll stop wasting your time then. If there's one thing we hate too it's wasting time. Why when we think about all the time we've wasted over the years, well... it wastes a lot more time.

Oh right, sorry...

So you may have heard about Consumers Digest, the brand new vore mag full of some of your favorite vore artists. But who said this party was invite-only? Shouldn't everybody get a churn? That's where you get shoved in. There are still some pages available in our very first Sampler Platter, and if you want to claim a page for your own here's how you do it:

Submit your ideas, sketches, or full artwork to us for approval via a Note or directly to our email address swallowtailproductions@gmail.com. This artwork must be original and it must be private, please do not submit any work that you have previously made publicly available elsewhere! The page dimensions of our magazine are 8.333 inches by 10 inches, or 2500x3000 pixels. DPI 300 minimum, CMYK color, tiffs, pngs, or pdf files (no jpgs). This artwork must be vorish in nature and feature no copyright-infringing characters or items. Please make sure all content is authorized by its owners if you are using other user characters! There are no content restrictions (other than no cubs, sorry), but 'adult' work will be placed to the 'spicy' edition of the magazine. Please only submit one page worth's of content at a time.

For your effort, if your work is accepted for publication, you will receive a percent of sales from every issue! Your work will be featured alongside some of the biggest artists in the community, and you will receive valuable exposure and recognition and pride and also a free digital edition of the magazine.

But the deadline for submitted work to be completed is MARCH 15TH! Holy crap, hurry up! Don't make me link you to the Monty Python clip again! GO![b]
