@KaczTed you really hurt his feelings dude. His take on dead soldiers killed in combat vs training was so virtuous and intellectual sounding too -
I'm a bad person, apparently.

He’s got a point. Way more servicemen are dying in training and that’s something to be concerned more than whatever is being sensationalized in Syria in terms of bodycount. I’m not offended by this. I served in Iraq but almost died in a training accident.
-
Training fatalities are a consequence of realistic prep for the real world. Our disgust with the perpetual, neo-con, meatgrinder for profit has nothing to do with that. If the political leadership of this country won’t let us win/kill (all) the enemy, then bring them home.
-
Agreed. Training is necessary. If it can be made safer, great. But being in Syria is NOT necessary.
-
Is Syria even a country at this point? That’s the bigger question...
-
It is. The Kurdish regions of Syria, Turkey and Iraq are a separate question, but for all our fuck-ups under Obama, Syria is still a country, and Assad is still its leader.
-
Israelis actually prefer it that way btw. Leaving him in power was never out of the question. He’s been weakened and deligitimized among most Sunni Arabs. An actual overthrow would be an even worse can of worms.
