    Republicans want to gut healthcare. It’s not a talking point, it’s not an exaggeration, it’s not a rhetorical flourish. For ideological reasons, and because many can’t stand that it’s named Obamacare, they are causing millions to feel anxiety and possibly suffer. Shame on them.

    Per DOJ filings, this tweet should not be construed as factually accurate nor as evidence of actual government legal policy.

    As I predicted all along, Obamacare has been struck down as an UNCONSTITUTIONAL disaster! Now Congress must pass a STRONG law that provides GREAT healthcare and protects pre-existing conditions. Mitch and Nancy, get it done!

    Certainly not impossible. But you could easily have, say, the D presidential candidate win by 7 points in 2020, Dems add another 10-12 House seats... but they win "only" 3 Senate seats so the Senate is R 51-D 49 for President Beto/Harris despite two wave elections in a row.

    Yeah, the "this paves the way for Democrats to pass M4A" arguments really need wrestle with the fact that the Dems' current coalition (urban, college-educated, ~40% nonwhite) makes it pretty darn hard for them to win the Senate.

    If losing the argument was the key to passing universal health care, it would have passed. The real barrier is the high veto point American system, and in the most optimistic scenario Dems would have, what, 51 votes in the Senate? You think M4A passes in that scenario?
