    The unease with awarding Khashoggi for "bearing witness" as a journalist is that it's not quite right. He was a commentator and activist, and it might be said that had his vision triumphed for Saudi Arabia the freedoms he celebrated in exile might not have been fully implemented.

    Khashoggi being an Islamist doesn't exclude him from being 's Man; the award can be about impact not necessarily virtue. And to clear this out of the way: I've been for a much harder line on , and don't think JK's ideology mitigates the crime in any way.
