I issue a challenge to VRAINS fandom.... Get the following popular ships to 51 fics each on AO3: - AngelMaker - Hotdog - Firestorm Write them out of this terribly inaccurate rarepair "definition" so only true rarepairs remain. & While you're at it make more rarepair content!!

under VRAINS has less than 50 fics OTHER THAN DATASTORM. Datastorm meanwhile was like in the hundreds. Tbh I can't argue with that logic since it's that bad LMAO....

Easy for you to talk.. making content is hard and the majority of those shippers either left the fandom or were VERY intimidated and disencouraged by the sudden EXPLOSION datastorm had. It's really sad to see how the shipping fanbase has slip up.. As a multishipper this is unfair

And ship popularity changes over time. It won't always be like this. I've been watching YGO fandom trends for nearly 18 years now.... It always changes. But simply giving up and not making content (or encouraging others to make content) isn't going to make the situation better.

I know that too. I watched MHA and P5 fandom grow and I'm in VRAINS since the very beginning (I shipped datastorm before it was cool team). I try not to get influenciated by numbers but gosh it hurts.. specially when some people throw it at our faces and bash us for TRYING

I'm shocked by how immature the YGO fandom has gotten. This is not the fandom I grew up with and remember. This used to be the fandom other fandoms observed and said "Wow how does your fandom not have any drama? How can we be more like you guys?" It's really gone downhill.

Of course there was ship drama back then but shippers mostly avoided each other if their tastes weren't compatible. There wasn't this level of unease. No one was afraid of making content for rarepairs. imo the biggest problem is Tumblr itself. Ships need dedicated communities.

Trust me YGO fandom is still one of the better ones it's just this really stupid "morally right" culture that is poisoning everything And not just ships but even theories! Like.. idk if you saw that Lightning/Yusaku theory, yes it was mine and YES I was called out for being wrong

Nothing pisses me off more than having some godamn kid point at me (an adult) and boss me around on how to fandom. Early VRAINS fandom had it rough with people calling ships like Kusayu and Goyu p*dophilia and I believe that's also part of the reason there's not much for them

It's very difficult for her to understand this "morally right" culture because it just doesn't come up in her side of the YGO fandom. There's zero fear of being attacked for ship tastes. Fans just avoid each other if they disagree. No soapboxes. EN fandom used to be like that.
