Kelly's argument is that slavery wasn't considered bad back then. Which is false. It had been abolished in many countries (incl. Mexico)

By defending General Lee & saying that we can't judge slavers from long ago, Kelly is basically doing what every Confederacy apologist does.

Kelly implies Uncle Sam refused to compromise w/Slavers. False (see Missouri compromise). They just didn't give in to all their demands.

Slavers were always pushing to gain more ground. Like asking for slavery to be recognized across borders and fully protected by Congress.

Revisionists claim that the gov had placed heavy taxes on plantation owners. Thus why they went to war. Nope. They enjoyed low tariffs rates

And free labor from their slaves between other perks.

We were being told that Kelly was the adult in the WH but he’s not.
