    Any comparison with the France and Syria protests is ridiculous. However, these protests are not the same as the Malmö car burnings (totally incomparable actually), nor the usual weekend warrior / anarcho-tourism clashes we have. It’s not that simple.

    Everyone needs to chill on the Syria and France comparisons. We need to at least see an armored vehicle firing randomly in a city block, with macrons face plastered on the turret first. Europe has crazy riots all the time…

    Not that I think there will be a revolution—not at all. It just rubs me up the wrong way when people start with the “these people are bad!” as soon as there are clashes, yet spend their days whining on social media about politics whilst actually doing nothing.

    Seems to me that the not playing nice—as in they’re not doing the usual “look at me!” slogans on placards, Insta-protesting, or peaceful sit-ins—is the actual reason it’s looking like a threat to the state and might bring about change.

    The protests in are violent so of course there are many “these people are bad” takes going around, but consider what Macron is spending money on. Wouldn’t you be angry?
