Christian recording artists Lauren Daigle recently was quoted in an interview when asked about homosexuality, “I can’t honestly answer on that,” Daigle responded. “In a sense, I have too many people that I love that they are homosexual. I don’t know. I actually had a conversation with someone last night about it. I can’t say one way or the other. I’m not God.” Now, as believers, we are to respond to this response in grace, but also in truth. We need to correct, but not condemn.
For while the Law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ. (AMPC) John 1:17
Something I have noticed, however, that as Christian artists have compromised and went mainstream, many of them when asked on this subject usually give the same flawed and wrong answer. They go with the “I’m not God” and don’t judge answer. But, beloved ones, this is not how we are to respond. When we speak what God says in His Word, we are not judging. We are in fact reading the verdict, for the Judge of all the world has already passed judgment on the issue. In other words, repeating what god has declared in his Word is not judging, but is repeating what God has said.
So, what is the answer according to the Word? We can go both Old and New testament on this issue.
You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination. (AMPC) Leviticus 18:22
For this reason God gave them over and abandoned them to vile affections and degrading passions. For their women exchanged their natural function for an unnatural and abnormal one, And the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze (burning out, consumed) with lust for one another—men committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own bodies and personalities the inevitable consequences and penalty of their wrong-doing and going astray, which was [their] fitting retribution. (AMPC) Romans 1:26-27
And, scripture goes even further in Romans 1.
Though they are fully aware of God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them. (AMPC) Romans 1:32
Now, some will scream such things as homophobia and hate, but this is not. This is love to show people the need for repentance, and the call to walk in the grace, truth, and love of God in Christ’s holiness. What people like Mrs. Daigle needs to comprehend is that if God has spoken against something, if He calls it sin, then He has the final word. Does this mean we hate the LGBTQ person because we speak out on their need to repent? Absolutely not! In fact, it is an act of love to tell them that they need to repent, to turn from their wicked ways according to the Word!
Mrs. Daigle, either through bad teaching, a spirit of compromise, or whatever, in sharing her response did not show the love of God. In fact, all the so-called “gay affirming” churches, all those who support abortion and anything the Bible calls wickedness, the Bible teaches that these are acting in abomination to God. And, sadly, lest they repent, they all will be condemned for rejecting God, His Word, and Christ’s finished work.
And, this is not being judgmental, because I am not passing judgment. I am just reading the verdict. Those who walk in this way of tolerance for what god calls sin are as the same in the eyes of God as those who are actually committing the sin. Again, not my words, but God’s.
Now, there are many nice people who are LGBTQ. But, being nice does not make one right with God. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, and are called to walk in Christ’s holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). For all the rambling and all the compromise, grace and truth still stands in love, in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Daigle, I encourage you, if for some reason you come by this site, to reconsider what you’re believing. You said also in the same interview, “I just say read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know, because I’m learning too,” she continued. Ma’am, above are the Scriptures. The Bible speaks clearly. And we have a line of truth that cannot be crossed, a warning not to compromise. I encourage you to pull away, get into God’s presence and in His Word, and then let the holy Spirit guide you to this. I do not condemn you, and neither does Jesus, for there is room to repent and get back into spiritual alignment with the grace and truth of the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. I say this respectfully, please repent and get into the Word, in the love of God.
Shalom to one and all in Jesus name.
