And examples. Today I put on Amouage Beach Hut and it seems to be working nice for a cold rainy day. Do you stick with your darker winter scents or go fresh and summer?
Agree on the Terre d’Hermes, I can see that one for sure with the mineral/earthy tones.
I really like Green Irish Tweed on rainy days. It just puts me in mind of green fields.
Yes totally agree with you there. For me I can see it on a rainy day except for the winter season. A little too sharp for the cold in my opinion.
Yeah, I live in a place where rainy days don't happen in winter...
This. Silver Mountain Water also works good on rainy days though
Tea notes: Atelier Cologne Oolong Infini or Le Labo The Noir 29. Although neither for a hot summery rain -- maybe I'd go with something tropical like Kai.
The Noir 29
Yeah this one, it's so weird, the sillage is so insane, and with the increased humidity it is sneaky how it goes everywhere in the rain.
I usually go for woody fruity scents on a rainy day. Usually Aventus or Cedrat Boisé fits the bill.
mm, mostly warm and often a little bit sweet - tobacco, incenses, spices, some woods and leathers, and smoke. i'm in love with alkemia's the raven, which is z warm soft leather with violet leaves, black amber, black iris, black cardamom, and ink (among other things). the cedar +figleaf i get from hermes un jardin en mediterranee is glorious (with a breath of cool cypress in the winter that i find appealing) and i would kill to find an accurate hot redwood. that's a summer smell to me, actually, bc redwood that's been sitting in the hot sun is a glorious scent, but i would wear that shit year round if i could find an accurate frag. for tobacco, i like bonhemes en voyage from alkemia (not currently in production), serge lutens chergui, and probably tobacco vanille if it was really cold?
i would also like to smell like a damp, cool forest but i haven't found that yet.
try getting your hands on a sample of Replica's Soul of The Forest.
I havent had much experience with west coast forests but it smells like a woody, slightly damp new England forest. Not pine-y at all but it smells like a forest
I've lived on the west coast for a long, long time, lol. Still intrigued, though!!
I think like a rocky/cement/possibly earthy smell might go well with it. Problem is, I don't think I own anything like that.. like Noir Anthracite/Narciso stuff or whatever. Maybe I should get one, haha.
Imaginary authors has Mosaic, which has notes of cement/ceramic tile. Himalaya is an interesting one with that gun powder note, too.
Sander for men. Love the ivy scent that develops into a more peppery smell on cold rainy days.
Powdery scents seem to really open up in the humidity, while being a bit cozy against the cold. I like Grey Flannel for cool rain, and Loulou for a really cold rain.
Might be a bit cliche, but Narcisco Rodriguez for Him is perfect for the heavy rain in the city.
For a cold rainy day I go with something cozy, usually ambery and resinous if I want to make up for the warmth I'm lacking but if I want to celebrate it I would go with something like Heeley's Cardinal, a sombre scent that echos an empty church after the frankincense and myrhh has gone out and you're left contemplating life in the old wooden pews.
Look for a warm, spicy one. Smokey would be a bonus.
Burberry London for men for me.
I'm wearing as I'm writing this.
It's 11:07pm. I applied around 6:00.
Can still smell it on my shirt.
Not the best, agreed, but an acceptable longevity.
i like powdery/spicy scents like frederic malle noir epices or chanel l'eau
I wore Lalique Encre Noir today specifically because it was a colder rainy day. Today was also the first time I got a compliment on it.
