Experts are already warning of a 'domino effect' leading the protests to spread from France to neighbouring countries. In all of this it's not clear how we in the East should respond, aside from calling on the French authorities to respect the right to protest.

As a french history expert I can assure you that french people are longing for the return of their king. The use of the clothing imagery "Gillet jaunes" is obviously a direct reference to the "Sans culottes".

I'm sorry, but it's a well known fact that western values are not compatible with peace and stability (WWI and II, Napoleon wars, French-German Wars, the Hundred Years War etc.). The region is lacking a stabilizing force akin to what the Umeyyad Caliphate used to be.
