This widow of IS fighter clearly still supports IS. Not all IS wives are just 'house wives'. Lot of them actively support IS and their actions.

The Mayor accuses the the to be behind the protest, merely to undermine, ignore & delegitimize the Yazidi will who want to have uncorrupt ppl ruling them, & Yazidis do not want former Sinjar officials to rule them again who abandoned them when IS massacred city

ppl protested & did not allow Mayor of Sinjar Mahma Khalil to return to the city. The will of Yazidis should be respected, the ppl who Yazidis support should represent them. The KDP & Iraqi Gov should not impose their political agendas on Yazidis.

The only two Yazidi members of parliament have not been consulted on the re-instating the local governance of Sinjar. We have not been consulted either. This deal has been done in what seems to be part of a larger political package deal between and .

The community territories & all disputed areas of Nineveh continue to be on the give-grab policy between the two Governments with a zero consideration to the rights and inspirations of the people. It is disappointing to see this disrespectful & randomized behavior. 2/2

Today the , in a step that seems to be in coordination with , re-instated the pre-2014 local administration and district council over Sinjar. We reject this step and find it bizarre. Neither the council nor the Mayor are elected. They do not represent us. 1/2

[3] Even if the old administration return in , hardly any of the local will recognize their leadership. It remains to be seen how the Iraqi government is now responding to the / blockade.

[2] The old administration, including self-proclaimed Mayor of Mahma Khalil, was deposed by troops a year ago, which fled with the to the Duhok area. It will be interesting to know at what price the two parties came to this agreement.

Death penalty (apart from being state-sanctioned murder) is hardly a deterrent for mass shooters who don't expect to survive their atrocity in the first place (although, white mass killers interestingly often do survive, in contrast to unarmed black people...)

  20. Emotions are raw in this tragic moment. Exploiting the desire for retribution following these killings distracts from the long-term problem of executions of innocents after erroneous convictions. Fanning the passions of the mob in this fashion is irresponsible and inappropriate.
